✨ Crain Family Game Night Headcanons ✨
Thank you to @red--opti for listening to my rambles and coming up with headcanons with me. You’re awesome :)
-The Crain Family over the years if they ever got together would host family game nights almost every time they hung out at Shirley’s. Monopoly was absolute chaos, don’t get them started on Uno either—Shirley’s always going to claim Luke or Theo cheats (Theo and Luke swear they don’t).
-When Theo comes home from college one time, she suggests playing Dungeons & Dragons (DnD). Nell’s immediately interested.
-She got into it from a friend (which was more of a situationship deal) and found it to be extremely interesting after touching a mini figurine one time—sensing those feelings and connections people get from that game…eventually, even without touching a figurine, she becomes very skilled at it—it intrigues her a lot. -She doesn’t have to reveal any deep thing about herself. DnD became a positive outlet for her and her abilities other than encounters with women. She wonders how she can help people and see if she can gain any more positive experiences with her powers, so she decides to go into Psychology and see if her powers can benefit her there too. -She vibe checks people’s dice too! Mainly because she knows which dice roll well due to her abilities. She loves it. (Credit to Red)
-Of course, after suggesting this to The Crains, they decide to try a one-off session. Theo’s a DM, Shirley hates it, Steve doesn’t see its importance, he thinks whatever he’s doing is better. Luke loved it until a really big battle actually scared him, and Nell was 100% on board and obsessed with it. (Credit to Red)
-Luke and Theo played as rogues 100%
-So, it didn’t exactly work out that time—which was fine. Theo later on tells Allie and Jayden about it, a little while after she gets out of college, and of course they both get into it upon realizing how cool it was. Shirley, upon learning this, goes “You’re kidding me…” to Theo’s sneaky little smile and giddy response of “Nope! Your kids love me even more, this is why I’m one of the coolest aunts here.”
-Steve later on overhears Theo DMing a game with Luke, Trish, Jayden, and Allie, going wild because someone got a Nat 20. He decides to look into DnD and becomes the best DM in the family. Theo’s more likely to be a player than a DM. (Credit to Red)
-Nell gets voted Most Likely To Travel By Horse 24/7 (Credit to Red)
-Shirley gets bullied into playing DnD with the family. Of course, she Doesn’t Get It, but understands it enough that it’s important in family game night and loves to host. (Credit to Red)
-Theo calls it “sisterly bonding” and Nell laughs every single time
-Allie gets her first Nat 20—of course Theo cheers. Allie’s in awe. She also cheered when Jayden got his first Nat 20 as well.
-Allie gets her first Nat 20 without Theo vibe checking her dice and cheers again, extremely proud of her. (Credit to Red)
-Later on, at some point, the other Crain siblings learn what Theo’s vibe checks mean and they get salty. (Credit to Red)
-It turns into a small argument, but it doesn’t matter later on.
-Theo’s first character she ever played as was a Human Rogue. Her favorite class is always Rogue, Sorcerer, or Warlock when playing. She likes causing a little mischief but not too much.
-Steve wouldn’t admit it but he likes playing as a Bard. He’d mostly go for Wizard though.
-Nell loves Druids!!! She also loves Clerics. She’s always going for one or the other.
-Shirley, even though she doesn’t play often, might go for classes that seem more easier for her to manage. She ends up playing as a Fighter, Barbarian, and Ranger all at different points. She likes the Barbarian class surprisingly. Eventually though, she becomes more interested in Rangers and Monks.
-Luke really enjoys playing as Rogues, Fighters, and Barbarians but heavily leans to Rogue.
-All in all, despite the horrors and tragedies the family faces, they still have a lot to bond over and have a fantastic time at game night.
