When Karen met an incredible man invested in newspapers that spent hours looking through the archives, genuinely interested, it was only natural that she wanted to spend more time with him. Steve Trevor was interesting, he was excited about the world they lived in despite the darkness lurking around every corner and that was rare. Karen had to admit that from time to time, even she lost faith. She sought out honesty and truth, but within that came a very, very demented aspect. When someone confessed they were aware their neighbour had murdered someone but were afraid to confess, Karen’s stomach turned, and when someone ranted about how deeply they hated the Punisher, she recognized entitlement.
None of that mattered presently, Karen reminded herself. She was about to go on a date with Steve Trevor, someone she was excited to get to know. Already he’d been more upfront with her than Matt, more interested in who she was, and Karen was taking that as a very good sign. Truthfully, she’d been avoiding dating since she’d seen Matt potentially sleeping with another woman, and after she’d witnessed Frank, another person who she had conflicting feelings on, slaughter someone for vengeance. Strangely, Karen found it difficult to trust her own opinion on men.
Taking a deep breath, Karen checked her appearance in the mirror once more and then entered the restaurant. It was a traditional date, but Steve Trevor seemed like a traditional man, and she didn’t mind a nice dinner with some riveting conversation. No one could complain about that! Immediately, she saw Steve sitting at a table, and she smiled brightly at him. “I’m glad you could make it,” she said. “Sorry I’m… one minute late. Will you ever forgive me? This means I’m definitely buying,” she said, lightly hugging him in greeting.
