In the late 90s when I was starting design schooling, I picked up the @denverpost #DenverPost newspaper and discovered they were still publishing the #TMNT #comicstrip I enjoyed in 1990-1992. No one talks about the strip anymore. Early on, between #SteveMurphy, #SteveLavigne, @shellback_artworks_ #RyanBrown , and most notably #JimLawson at #MirageStudios. the strips did contain humour but we're very "serialized" or I guess 'action & adventure' oriented and somewhat more serious in tone like the old #SpiderMan strip. On the Sunday strips ,they took a break from adventures - there usually was a one panel action or gag strip and the larger second panel contained a PSA ( like helping the environment ), had a puzzle or game for the kids, or had kid Turtles fan art. A handful of these Sunday strips are on my " famous" Flickr account that everybody likes to steal from. Mid to late 90s, #DanBerger @danbergerink took over the strip completely, the tone changed considerably to lighter and hilarious. Dan's knowledge of MIRAGE TMNT cannon goes unmatched (i.e. Archie,O.G.Toon,Mirage books & Next Mutation) and is never credited. All these elements were intermingled in Dan's run of the strip with characters like #Bebop & #Rocksteady existing in the same universe as #Renet & #SavantiRomero (who guest started in Dan's run). It was a rollercoaster and foreshadowed #TomWaltz's @tomwaltz1's #IDW books. New characters like the silly Bunny-Man martial artist #LuigiSing appeared, #Krang was retconned as an #Utrom and the late 90s #NinjaTurtled comic adventures contained a one-of-a kind #HowardTheDuck style humour Dan prolly still goes unrecognized for. I used to save the web versions of his strips , put a funny turtle design on the side and l then line em up simply, and in order and print off my own little Turtle "#funnypapers" for myself This is one of those old pages I just found. https://www.instagram.com/p/CAP3WPKgg9A/?igshid=1ljsz37s44xlj
