It had been an abrupt transition for Ashilynn to come to the city, forcing her to adjust very swiftly from the facts of her old life. Part of her was amazed at everything that the city was founded upon, with the prevalence of new technologies she had only dreamed of, but despite that, there was a constant sense of anxiety that plagued her. Every time that she so much as opened her eyes, she was reminded of her predicament.
Coming to get to know the city had seemed as though it may alleviate some of her discomfort, and of the places in the city, Sector 004 seemed as though it may hold the most promise. Still, even the act of taking the train to arrive there set her ill at ease. It was all foreign to her.
She had held the vague hope that she might find something familiar in the cultural sector, and set about wandering in search of that, but rather than that, she was instead greeted with the rich complexity of so many different worlds woven together—in some places, the buildings were sleek like glass, while in others they were colorful, made of wood, covered in banners and adornments. She swiftly lost herself in it, and found herself in awe.
Still, despite everything, she found nothing from the Iron Empire, and as she wandered, that sense of insecurity and wrongness crept up on her again. It had been an hour or perhaps two before she finally took a stop to rest her legs, on a bench in a shady alcove off the street. A stone statue of a four-armed goddess with two faces served as her only company.
Ashilynn looked to the statue, and let out a small sigh, a slight frown lingering on her lips. “Where have you come from?” she wondered aloud. “Did they steal you, as well?”
