EVE Vegas 2018: Steven Clark on What Happens in Abyssal Dead Space

EVE Online is an ever-changing online game where the history and lore is written by the players. EVE Online is known for having one of the most hardcore fan communities in all of gaming which can be seen at any of the many events they have every year throughout the world. Hardcore Gamer was in attendance at this year’s EVE Vegas, and in between playing Project Nova and taking part in the after hours events, we talked to a few developers about what we can expect from EVE in the coming months. One of the people we spoke to was Steven Clark, game designer of EVE Online.

#9 as some good old Alicia & Nick sibling bonding?

9. “Who bought 25 packs of balloons?”

Oooh, I like your thinking Pan. So this is 8 year old Alicia and 10 year old Nick.~~~~~

Alicia laughed as Nick blew up yet another balloon and tied the end closed before tossing it at his little sister to be batted across the room.

There was about three dozen balloons inflated already and the two kids were trying to blow up enough to make the living room into a mock ball pit. 

“Do you think it’ll make mom and dad happy?” Alicia asked as the 8 year old opened another package of balloons to start blowing up.

“I hope so. I’m running out of breath.” Nick said, feigning exhaustion a moment and taking great big breaths before blowing up his next balloon.

Both kids had stayed home alone that day as their parents both had work. Their dad’s truck had broken down the night before, so their mom was having to drive him today. Which meant they would both be home at the same time. And that meant this was the perfect time to surprise them both.

“How much time do we have?” Nick asked between blowing up balloons.

Alicia hummed and looked at her disney princess digital watch. “Two hours.” She said with a nod before trying to blow up another balloon herself.

Two hours later Madison and Steven came home to find a pile of empty balloon packets on the front door stop. Both traded looks of confusion before picking them up and heading inside.

“Who bought 25 packs of balloons?” Steven called, earning a matching set of giggles from the balloon filled living room.

They found the kids, buried up to their necks in balloons and grinning like mad at their parents as they entered the room.

Again the parents traded looks before breaking out laughing themselves.

“Alright, who’s idea was this.” Madison asked as she waded through the see of colorful balloons to where the kids were sitting.

Nick and Alicia pointed at each other before bursting into another fit of giggles.
