Guess who just finished Wizard and Glass 😢👍 🦅🐻🐰🐟
hc that steven didn’t really get too mad at gabrielle for the affair because he too cracked the sorcerer
Cisgender men have had too much time being shitty traumatized fathers whose best attempt at fatherhood was dogshit. Give that miserable bastard whose kids worship and despise him a pussy NOW
modern au: gabrielle and steven are divorced or separated. when they talk it’s over the phone and usually about Roland, making plans for him to visit one or the other for the weekend and or how Roland is doing at school, etc, and their talking is always friendly but always distant and mostly-formal and cautious. the closest they get to casual is when gabrielle starts texting steven to ask him for advice about her budding career in politics.
one day steven texts gabrielle about the girl roland met on his summer vacation - moreover, about her aunt. susan’s aunt is absolutely angling to marry steven for his money and he can’t be outright mean to her because his son is so ridiculously into susan so steven wants to be on good terms with her family.
the solution? fake date gabrielle. of course. she tentatively agrees. steven is finally in a position to (albeit accidentally) tell/show gabrielle that he loves her and they begin tentatively working through their issues. at the end they’re not solidly back together again but are agreed to very slowly very cautiously start dating again.
i’d consider paying someone to write this.
how could there be a day in your whole life that doesn’t have its splash of happiness?
the kingfisher, mary oliver + the deschain family.
Image description under the cut.
Steven slips away from her with the ease of a cold summer stream. Roland drinks the blood that raised his father too, becomes more hawk than man, more beast than flesh of God. And Marten? Marten finds her at the bottom of the well, and Marten pushes her head beneath the water. She finds that letting herself die, then, is perhaps the greatest act of courage she could gift herself.
Or, the last days of Gabrielle Deschain, and the madness between them.

If I go back and tell what I know what I overheard Gilead may yet be saved a few years you may be yet saved a few years your father little that he ever cared for me
The lines “little that he ever cared for me” had been crossed out with a series of heavy lines, but I could read them anyway.
