I was just gonna add this interview to my ‘Brett Dalton is the worst’ list and be done with it, but ugghh --
Yeah yeah, on and on with the “Ward wasn’t ever really bad, he was in a gray area” and he was only bad when he was Hive. We fucking know Brett, you can stfu with your incorrect readings of your completely villainous character.
Plus his comments on Simmons having a grudge against Ward in the real world (not just the framework): “I feel like Grant Ward-slash-Hive is like, ‘Why does this girl have something against me so much? I’m doing the right thing, even when I’m bad!’”
(“The right thing” = murdering people, raping a brainwashed woman, crashing a plane full of people...etc etc etc. Okay Brett. Okay.)
Then he praises Iain for doing excellent acting (something he never does for Chloe, something he never does for pushing the centrality of Daisy’s narrative but I’m not bitter) and seems to fully and completely grasp that when (mind-controlled, not really) Shitz kills someone in cold blood it’s definitely a sign that he’s a scary bad guy? Some cognitive dissonance there, dude???
All that’s expected, though -- it’s the stuff with Daisy/Skyeward that really pissed me off?
He “think[s] that Ward has always had an uphill battle with Skye’s affection” talking about the real world because that’s not a gross way to look at the relationship between a lying duplicitous lowlife and a woman he kidnapped and threatened. “I would promise to protect her, but it seemed to never really make that much of a difference. In the very next episode after I introduced her to her father, she shoots me in the chest three times! [Laughs]”
What an asshole. Just...shut up. Ugh.
And the icing on the cake: he calls Daisy ‘Skye’ all the way through.
