The kids are officially hooked. They all chipped in to get ingredients and came over for a bonfire. Thanks again to @berentzen, @kristy_davisx and @teddyrutberg for sharing this with us. ・・・ INGREDIENTS: - 1 cup self-rising flour - 1 tsp sugar or honey - 1 tbs butter or coconut oil - 3/4 cup of milk or water - pinch of salt ・・・ METHOD: - Mix butter/coconut oil with flour - add in salt, sugar and a little bit of preferred liquid at a time until it forms a dough - divide into two pieces and roll into a snake shape to wind around a clean, dry stick - hold over campfire to cook ・・・ This recipe makes enough for two and the finished product goes great with jams or spreads. With the recent protest, bread has been difficult to get as bakeries have been closed. So we improvised by making Stockbrot! Which is German for “stick bread”. If you were raised in Germany, you’d know that a campfire is not complete without stickbread. The kids would fight over who got to knead the dough while the parents would look through refrigerator and pantry to find creative ways to fill the stickbread. Thank you @berentzen_, @kristy_davisx and @teddyrutberg for sharing these traditions with us. The kids had a blast and it definitely was a quick solution to what otherwise might have been a problem.
