She didn't like this house, didn't like the weird girls with their secrets, didn't like the guest room she stayed in, she especially didn't like the shadows that danced through her window, and it wasn't a surprise that she wasn't very fond of the loud banging of the thundering storm outside. The trembling six year old slid out of bed, and at first went to seek the comforts of Madison, but the door was locked and if Maddie got woken up... Annie turned and went in search for Kyle.

She found him in his room, and she was grateful that he didn't pushed her away and actually lifted him arm to allow her to cuddle close to him. Annalise crawled under his arm and snuggled into his side, pulling the blanket over her head for added protection. Everyone knows that monsters can't get you under the blankets. That didn't stop her, however, from jumping out of her skin  with every crack of thunder.
