Hi, I’m the one who wrote about tattoo meaning. I didn’t mean to cause trouble, I am new and not a taekooker or really even a jikooker, I just loved your dance posts. Things can get really heated in this fandom really fast huh? I think I still disagree about why he might have made some choices but that’s ok. It’s sweet that intentional or not, he wound up with all the members plus army on his hand and jimin definitely has pride of place even with that scenario. But damn your commenters are mean. I think I realised I don’t have it in me to become an active fan. Thanks for your answer.
I think, anon, that I don't usually respond positively to some input, deserved or otherwise. I am unapologetic about my views because frankly, I don't care that much what anyone else thinks of me. I don't need the validation of online supporters. I'm here to enjoy myself, not explain myself, if that makes sense.
That said, the anon asks that I post are, believe it or not, the NICEST ones I receive. Most of the super-hate I get and other bloggers get never sees the light of day. And I will tell you very honestly that in my experience? ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of my death threats and wishes, of hopes I will die of my medical condition, of prayers that I will self-harm or be assaulted by someone else? They all come from the Taehyung solo stans and Taekook shippers.
EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
And I know personally of other bloggers who have gotten actual criminal stalkers from the same camp. Credible threats to themselves and their CHILDREN and families. From this same group. They have driven many a very good blogger and translator off of social media entirely. It's sad but when you have a fandom of 45 million people, probably 4.5 million of them are going to be crazy assclowns and there isn't a lot to be done about that, unfortunately.
When one is subjected to intense vitriol and hate over a long enough time frame, one has a tendency to get a touch defensive. I am defensive. Many of my readers are also defensive. And I'm not going to apologize for them, but I will suggest that you limit your fan activities to things that make you happy and not anxious. And if my blog makes you anxious then you shouldn't read it.
What you can do is curate the content you take in. Maybe ships are something you will find you need to avoid entirely if aggressive opinions upset you. Maybe you'll read the webcomics or just listen to the music and enjoy the parts of the fandom that make you happy. Maybe watching original content feels like too much for you, or sifting through 28 pages of proof that Jimin and Jungkook are in a relationship doesn't sound like a good time.
That's okay. You do ARMY the way it works for you.
