i would consider ‘spn itself underdevelops jack and every dynamic related to him so there’s a very minimal foundation for character dynamics to be explored’ to be a good reason why that also happens in fanon if not for the fact that fanon in general means making something out of nothing, and that it’s been done for plenty of other underdeveloped characters already, so the pattern of disparity just grows and grows and grows. i also think that the fandom being so (for lack of better phrasing) destiel-centric that every other character is automatically warped to center them factors into it too, so antagonists like Michael or Noah who have some personal positioning to jack get boxed as (1) Dean’s guy and (2) the guy who kisses Castiel and therefore somehow validates his queerness
and look obviously if it doesn’t interest u, it doesn’t interest u, end of story, but patterns of disparity cannot always be overlooked as everyone just happening to share the same singular personal taste that happens to exclude certain kinds of characters with certain coding, especially when it intentionally diverges from canon to make that exclusion in the first place, ya feel?
"Elapsam semel occasionem non ipse potest Iuppiter reprehendere" summarises the situation pretty well.

What If - Safetysuit (by alternativejunkie1)
I don't care what anybody says
The end of Ashes to Ashes was the saddest ending of anything ever. ( And that's including the whole Arthur /Gwaine/Aithusa debacle )
You watched me tremble when I mentioned that I quit my job and asked why. And you didn't flinch or say "okay" and shrug it off like everyone else when I said "Personal reasons". And you told me if I ever want to talk, I could. And you looked at me and said "seriously". And you watched me leave. And you pulled me towards you when I came back to make sure I knew that I'm not repulsive or alone or anything before I left for real. You see things about me that no one else ever seems to see or notice. Like at New Years. And now this. And I'm starting to think you are the best thing for me. And I wish I'd realised that a while ago. And I'm elated and excited and scared all at the same time.
