Hello!! I have a question about Bumswiftery :)

In a modern era (any AU), how do Bumlets, Swifty, and Skittery get those nicknames?

I’m really curious about it, but if you haven’t given it any thought, that’s fine too!

Hi Sophie!

I'm of course always happy to answer Bumswiftery questions and at least for 2 of them I had good ideas where the nicknames get from, Bumlets isn't as good but no matter which AU it is hard to think where that name might have come from. @thatoneandlonelyemo2005 and I discussed a bit and this is what we mostly agreed on:

Swifty: when he was a kid in the junior soccer team he was always the fastest (still is), which earned him the nickname Swifty. And no, it doesn't have anything to do with Taylor Swift, he didn't know her fans were called that

Skittery: He's always skittish and nervous, no matter the AU, I do think especially when he was younger he was hiding a lot behind his mother (Angelina), maybe she even called him that (affectionately) and it just stuck when she told his friends in Middle School/High School

Bumlets: He's been doing Gymnastics almost his whole life, but that doesn't mean he was always good at it. Especially the first few years he fell on his ass a lot and the older boys in the class teased him for it (he always fell on his bum + he was one of the younger kids, therefore the ending of the word) Skittery would tell you it is because he has a great ass

These are specifically for our modern AU "still smiling" aka the Soccer AU, there also would be some where they aren't doing soccer/gymnastics so it doesn't fit but at least Skittery's is pretty constant for me.
