one: i’m not sure if i can really call this a habit, but he tends to write. a lot. the problem is, it isn’t on paper, it’s just kept in a cache of ‘files’ in his mind. none of it’s fiction— it’s all either outlines, plans, or commentary on mutant culture and the like. just… you know that song ‘non stop’ from hamilton? “the plan was to write a total of twenty five essays, the work divided evenly among the three men / in the end, they wrote eighty five essays in the span of six months / john jay got sick after writing five / james madison wrote twenty nine / hamilton wrote the other fifty one / how do you write like you’re running out of time / write day and night like you’re running out of time”. …okay, i’m gonna stop now before i post nine more paragraphs about hamilton comparisons.
two: changes the layout of the furniture in his room practically every week. he can never pick and then stick with which corner to shove his bed into, where to keep his bins of wires and tools, how his books are organized, etc.
three: takes things apart, puts them back together. it helps calm his brain down and gives him something to do that he’s choosing to do, which helps. it’s not difficult for him to do anymore with how many times and ways he’s done it, but the pattern and repetition calms him on his bad days.
