“That’s probably a good thing,” Clara replied tiredly, “Seeing as I don’t plan on letting you go anytime soon.”
Standing still was becoming rarer and rarer for Clara. The longer you stand still, the more likely it is that whatever it is you’re trying to outrun will catch up with you- whether that’s literally while out on an adventure, or metaphorically while safe back in the TARDIS, it’s never a good idea.
But, she supposed, this technically didn’t count as standing still. It was laying down, with the Doctor.
Though… did he even mean the laying down? Or did he just mean… them. Clara had noticed that things had been cutting it close far more often lately. She shifted so she could see him out of the corner of her eye, and began to absentmindedly stroke his hair.
“I’m going to stay for as long as I’m allowed.”
The Doctor didn’t often slow down either. He and Clara were so alike in that sense; if they weren’t running from something trying to destroy them, they were running separately from issues they didn’t want to discuss or think about. But this was a little different for them. The Doctor had slowed down to sit with Clara before, even allowing the occasional night in, but they very rarely laid down together and enjoyed the quietness.
“As long as you’re allowed? I doubt that --- couldn’t get rid of you even if I wanted to. Which I don’t.”
Her hand in his hair was a surprise, albeit a nice one. The Doctor closed his eyes. After a moment, he began to relax, hold on himself and his gruff exterior slipping. A hint of a smile warmed his face.
“You’re tired.” It wasn’t a question --- he could tell by her voice, which he could read better than he could read her face. “You should rest more, I think.”
❛ HEY, IS IT OPEN? ❜ rory said, poking his head through a partly opened door of the dinner. he was coming come from his shift & since he knew very well that amy wasn’t a great cook, he hoped for a fast meal. ❛ I HAVEN’T SEEN THAT PLACE BEFORE, ❜ he admitted, looking around.
@stillheart gets a hungry rory !!

stillheart replied to your post: remember when the doctor had to carry clara’s body...
here’s something else to consider! clara wanting to face the raven alone wasn’t her wanting to be brave for herself. even though it would’ve been easier to stay w him right to the end, she didn’t want to let him witness something that awful
adhfglhfytj but he watches anyway bc he just has to ugh they literally kill me brb crying
@stillheart + this
AMY COULDN’T BE HAPPIER TO BE BACK ON TARDIS, even if it wasn’t the same one she spent so many days on. not to mention the fact that clara was really nice & agreed to take her on one adventure. so everything was perfect until...
“i don’t know either. but we really have to choose?” she looked at both levers, one leading to the death of all the cybermen following them but also a whole village of innocent people & the second one leading them to get back in time, but costing them their current themselves. the choice seemed easy at first, but then amy couldn’t escape the doctor’s voice in her head telling her that there had to be another way. if only he had been there.
“you dealt with cybermen more times than me. maybe there’s another way to trick them?” she asked, hoping that maybe clara had more knowledge of the metal aliens than her,
