U know it was coming: adachi for the headcanon meme

WOW haha this is really late uh but here we go. the man who ruined my life

2-4 songs that are probably on their iPod

definitely a lot of mindless self indulgence, considering adachi is undoubtedly the edgelord of inaba. i don’t really have any specific songs but i can also imagine adachi listening to a lot of noise rock and that sort of thing. more to drown the world out than to really get any musical enjoyment out of it.

the one place they sometimes end up falling asleep – where they’re not supposed to

i feel like adachi never really sleeps unless he’s in his own home; he’s a pretty private person and he’d ESPECIALLY never let himself fall asleep at dojima’s house, for instance (primarily so he doesn’t seem vulnerable). however, while he’s at home adachi will sleep -literally- anywhere. like he usually only is asleep for like an hour and a half or two hours at a time, and he moves around a lot between those intervals. usually he ends up at least on a piece of furniture but occasionally he deposits himself just. on the floor in the kitchen or something.

the game they’d destroy everyone else at

adachi is…actually pretty bad at most games. he doesn’t play them a whole lot, so he doesn’t get a lot of practice as far as head-to-head games. he ends up pretty good at a lot of co-op titles when he plays them with nanako, though! adachi is especially helpful at figuring out any puzzles that nanako doesn’t quite understand (and he secretly likes her praise too much to stop playing with her) okay going more in depth with that parenthetical there. adachi is STARVED for positive attention, but eh that’s pretty much canon as is

the emoticon they’d use most often

GOD okay. adachi uses dad smilies almost exclusively. ;-) like that. god he;s so annoying, look at him

what they act like when they haven’t had enough sleep

idk adachi is pretty much in a perpetual state of sleeplessness. he doesn’t really sleep well at home (as i’ve established) so his tired personality is basically identical to his “normal” one. i like to think when he’s especially tired, though, he tends to make really morbid jokes/comments, more than usual. everyone just thinks he’s so wacky

their preferred hot beverage on really cold nights. or mornings. or whenever.

black coffee! okay he doesn’t really -like- black coffee that much, but the caffeine is very helpful and also he likes to keep up the hardboiled detective facade. wow, he’s really bad at that. seriously. actually i kinda headcanon that adachi always makes and orders his coffee black but he secretly dumps a whole lot of sugar into it when dojima isn’t looking

how they like to comfort/care for themselves when they’re in a slump

murder alright no in all seriousness adachi is. really bad at caring for himself. he lets any sort of depressive episode spiral until he becomes this ball of self-loathing and hatred for the world around him. he halfheartedly medicates himself with candy and junk food, which kind of helps with the numbness, but in general depressed adachi is “lay in one position for 3 hours” adachi. he keeps forcing himself to work and be productive, which only makes it worse. okay maybe i wasn’t joking about the murder thing, that’s actually one of the only ways i can see him getting out of a slump. also contact with the dojima family really helps even though he won’t admit it

what they wanted to be when they grew up

don’t do this to me. alright well the cop thing was a pretty recent development. when he first visualized the job he figured it would have a lot more excitement and a lot less paperwork. in general, adachi always saw himself as someone important, someone who would change the world someday, but he never really had any particular interests or ambitions to actually follow through with. he spent so much time studying that he never had anything more than a vague idea of who he wanted to be, so when the time came to actually get a job he went with what generally fit his view of an “important” person–someone who could throw their weight around

their favorite kind of weather

it’s TOTALLY cheating to say fog but i’m gonna say it. adachi loves fog and thunderstorms and turbulent weather in general. i’m not really sure why, other than that it fits him somehow ow the edge

thoughts on their singing voice (decent? terrible? soprano? alto?)

dude his voice is so bad. so bad. like a lot of people can get in the general ballpark of singing but adachi is just awful. the poor guy (this is what he gets for, y’know, being a douche) but anyway he knows that his voice is pretty terrible and so he only very rarely sings much of anything.

how/what they like to draw or doodle

skeletons. not just skulls but like the whole shebang. he gives them names occasionally. i think this is probably another instance of “ow the edge” but lets face it adachi is the kind of person to draw skeletons on everything he owns

okay sweet! i guess ill do some basic info then

jay is a zombie werewolf. he’s stuck in werewolf form because thats how he died (due to somewhat arbitrary rules of the world these characters live in). he also lost most of his memories as a result of this process. he died in the late 80s and is incredibly 80s even to this day

cel (short for maricela) is the necromancer-in-training who revived jay. she belongs to a mexican-spanish family of necromancers/occultists and her dad owns a police force of sorts for keeping demons and metaphysical beings in line. think smt meets men in black, if you will

cel has two older brothers. the oldest is a bit of a progidy and is set to inherit his father’s legacy. the younger of the two…well, they dont talk about him much. he deserted the family to become a preacher at a protestant church and he’s a major disappointment to his parents
