Just think that only one year ago, we were in fear of traveling to the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Many were in fear of gang violence and shootings in Mexico and many feared travel to the República Dominicana due to deaths by alleged tainted alcohol. Both areas suffered significantly as tourism to these areas seem to suddenly halt. Here we are one year later with COVID-19 and tourism taking more of a universal hit to its growth. It's really been a tough few years but we're still standing and now everyone is rushing to Mexico because it's one of the only countries that will allow the USA to enter without major restrictions like quarantines and required testing. I don't discuss politics too often but a little ironic to me that so many Americans support a call to build a wall between Mexico and the USA but they are excepting our visits and relocations with little to no hesitation and but Europe says "Don't Come Here USA!". Trust me from what i have seen on the flights to Cancun where the planes are at full capacity, Americans are gladly running for the open air border and gladly sharing all their USD with Mexico. Just seems a bit ironic to me but like I said...I really don't do politics. I love the Caribbean and Estoy Con Mexico and Amo la Republica Dominicana and I definitely love running to both their open air borders. Albinos, she called us, and told us that we had a skin condition that was a result of the absence of a pigment, melanin. Ah! Finally, someone could tell us what was wrong with us. We began to study about ourselves, earnestly like a hungry lion, looking for a prey to sate its hunger. Oh, we searched long and hard. We isolated ourselves from our own, because we were no longer welcome. Doctors took their time to help us understand ourselves better. They researched and found out that our skin color was a disorder that is characterized by a complete or partial absence of pigment in the skin, hair and eyes, due to the defect of tyrosinase, a copper-containing enzyme, involved in the production of melanin. They explained that this lack of skin pigmentation makes for more vulnerability to sun burn and skin cancers, because the skin is no longer protected from the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. This was equally extended to the eyes, which results in problems with vision, as the sensitivity level is not as focused as that of the rest of the population.
