Not just a survivor but a warrior
She wears her slippers lightly and gentle
Weak and bruised, scarred not scared
She gave it all that she could
And now she's tired and needs some rest
Her mouth is sore, her hair is gone
Don't let me begin about fatigue and all
Her hopes high, her determination touching the sky
The fear was ever-present but couldn't win over her will
Tell me what it is if not war
Where every cell of hers was a proud soldier
And so they fought a nasty war
The end looked closer yet very far
Will she make it or will she not
A question that crawls over everyone
They smile in front of her
Hide how scared it makes them
It eats, beats and feeds on her
It batters her but she doesn't give up
A breath goes in, a breath goes out
And so the fortress of her lungs keep going on
She struggles it all for her dream
To survive, thrive and live.
The pain, the tears weren't worth nothing
She didn't give up and so she won
That fought with all their strength?
And came back victorious.
Cancer couldn't imprison her wings
She put that arrow right into cancer's core
Is it fair to call her that?
When she battles for each breath, is it in any way less than a war?
She's a warrior, not just a survivor.
Not just a survivor but a warrior.
