       It had happened so fast. The blast through the hospital building, the running of civilians and patience alike...Villain, she knew that much, but why had they come here? Why now? 

Rei limped away from the burning brick and stone that once was the hospital, doctors and civilians running past her carelessly, ignoring as she stumbled and hit the ground hard. Her hands gripped the pavement, her breath catching weakly in her throat. 

‘There she is!’ She heard a gruff voice hiss out. 

‘That one? You sure that’s his wife?’ Another sneered. 

They...They were here for here? Silver locks swayed as she pulled her face off the roadside and turned, eyes wide with terror and confusion as two masked men came stalking towards her, their shadows looming closer and closer, blocking the fire of what was once her mandatory home. 

‘Hey there pretty lady...we’z were wonderin’ if we killed ya, we could upset the new numbah one, ain’t that right?” The blond mused, spider appendages growing from the strangers back, sharp and pointed, crawling with it’s owner and lifting him up to stalk high above the now frozen in place mother of four. 

‘Luckily for us, he ain’t in town.’ The other mused, brunette and wolfish in nature, his nails growing with claw liked points. 

This-....All of this was just to kill her?

They both took a stance, readying to end her right then and there, a taloned hand rises and one long spider leg swinging up only to come right down on her next. 

Her children...she-she couldn’t leave them like this.

Not like this. 

She thought it was all over now, of course...until a sudden blast of blue fire made itself known, cutting between the two murderers and their would-be victim.

Rei turned, eyes wide and confused. Who...Who was that?

Call it a hunch, but he thought he’d find the young pyro there again.

Toshinori Yagi had spoken to the man before. They butted heads, shared secrets. There’s a whole novel that could be made about the sort of soul-exposing bullshit the two of them put each other through, but he wasn’t going to linger on what was told to him, what was exposed about the Todoroki family.

He wouldn’t. He wouldn’t!

Which is why he sought the missing son out.

As he searched along the length of coast, things kept crawling through his mind. He should know the guy’s name, shouldn’t he? You can’t have an entire child and not have people know who he might’ve been. But where would he even start looking and, if he did look, would that be too much? Would that be too invasive for Dabi, who seemed to have thrown that part of him away?

What was he thinking?

It’d taken a while, but he spotted a familiar figure just down the boardwalk and walked towards him, not bothering to be especially silent as he figured the warning might do him some favors.

“Hey -- ah... Young To-- .. Dabi?” Shit, already floundering. What was he supposed to call him now?!

     The rare fizzle of a screen turned on in the bar overhead where all that could be seen was the back of All For Ones ominous ebony black chair.

“Tomura, Dabi. The two of you will report to me in the lab tomorrow evening. I have a special assignment for the two of you when you’re ready.” All For One ordered, tapping his armrest without turning to look the two young men over. 

“I will not tolerate failure from either of you on this mission. Do well to remember that boys.” With that he shut the screen off, leaving them with a blank screen to stare at in confusion.
