St Mary’s School visit a dairy farm.
Our two junior classes, Aroha and Mahaki, went to visit Mr and Mrs Craig's farm. We saw lots of animals and had a wonderful time. This was a great follow up to our learning. We saw cows being milked, afterbirth, chickens, fed calves and lambs, ate some yoghurt and saw the tanker collecting the milk. Back at school we've made butter (and ate it on pikelets), learnt about cows' body parts (we love that they've got four stomachs!), created some pop art pictures based on Andy Warhol's work and learnt a lot about hazards. We have enjoyed our term's learning about Dairy Farms.
