Sometimes regions of the world are defined entirely by their relationship with a single species. I think in Florida one could argue this holds true for the American Alligator. Although they're found across the US gulf states and the Caribbean, they are nevertheless quintessentially associated with the Everglades and sweaty waterways of inland Florida. Everyone hopes to see the largest representatives of the species.
