Growing in the shade of the tropical-style foliage plants of the Sunken Garden of Great Dixter, Sussex, was the rhizomatous perennial Begonia 'Little Brother Montgomery'. Though not hardy this cane-type begonia thrives when shielded from direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorch and ideally in a temperature range between 15-22°C (58-72°F).

gardening from absolute zero

So, I've absolutely murdered every pot plant that I've owned, including multiple "unkillable" succulents. I also live in a region that is infamous for having terrible clay-like soil that throttles most plant life; I don't think I've ever seen a front lawn in my suburb or surrounding that isn't a crisp yellow-brown.

Naturally, I've decided that I want to start gardening.

As a general rule of thumb, I spend as little time outdoors as humanly possible – mostly because it's 30+°C and like 90% humidity for about 3/4 of the year, but also because I have chronic urticaria, which is triggered by dust, heat and grass. So really, this is the perfect hobby for me.

But anyway, apparently nature is good for you, blah blah blah so fuck it, we ball.
