Futari Wa Precure Review
It is Finale week, which means recap time and to finally start ranking Precure! So obviously we start with the one where it all began!
On the whole, ground breaking for its time I imagine, which would have gave it some momentum and the fight scenes could be good (As this came up alot during Wonderful, to those people who say Precure isn't about the fights, I highlight Precure's original duo! These two were more fighters than magical! Which may explain why they are hinted to be physically stronger than most other Cures when they get together.) On the other hand, I don't think it holds up too well, yes it had consequences and stakes (and the unfortunate magic reset button), however there were times it felt like it just dragged and nothing was actually happening. Time was wasted on side characters, whole entire eps over B plots. I was surprised at the nod to WW2 being thrown in via Honoka's Grandma, considering this was early 00's. The power scaling was super inconsistent, fights got repetitive, you could tell how it was going to go, depending on how much time was left in the ep, come the second half, the fights became almost non existent, as did Black and White actually defeating the villains. Dyaku King was ok, too inactive really to be remotely interesting, he never really got involved, just sent minions, so he had no actual impact on the story, standing there barking orders is hardly scary, despite how you make the minions react. (Not that Queen was anymore pro-active). The development of Black and White as a team and learning to lean on each other and trust each other more, was done well, they had their up and downs but had become quite solid by the time the EB rolled round. Meanwhile the villains were either pointless/boring or actually good.

Cure Black/ Nagisa Misumi
Nagisa being that tomboy figure, you'd think it'd be a character I'd click with but nope. I was very much wrong on my first ep assumptions, Nagisa is very much the central focus of the pair, she has more side stories connected to her, Fuji-P and the Lacrosse team and the story is more so told from her perspective but you do see gradual changes in her via her monologues usually at the start of each ep. Nagisa was fine on the whole, she got annoyed at her routine constantly being interrupted, which was relatable and she had a lot of determination and grit, she was the driving force of the duo; while her, was well intentioned, rash, hot-headedness is balanced out through White.
˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ Cure White/ Honoka Yukishiro
Easy part as there are only two of them but White is definitely still my fave of the two. Honoka I think got the short straw, the more the show went on, the more side-lined she became, in the second half, she didn't really get any arcs or B plots of her own, outside her grief for Kiriya (it is super bittersweet). The pair unfortunately stopped being treated as equals and White is treated as the weaker of the two but I would have said, instinctively, she seems to be the better of the two, at least as a fighter. The often calmer, logical one of the pair, she balances out Black well, however, is not beyond rash, hot-headed moments of her own and when she she boils over, it is a delight to watch XD
⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆
Mepple Perhaps because there was less focus on him and his attention was divided between Nagisa and Pollun, he wasn't anywhere near as annoying in the second half as he was the first half and if he it wasn't for a certain trio of villains, he'd definitely be the worst character in the show. One ep does not resolve his long list of faults and overall lack of redeeming qualities.
Mipple Mipple is only marginally better then Mepple, her saving grace being that she seems to give a damn about the whole team and not just herself and with Pollun about, she does have that maternal side to flesh her out a bit more but the constant Mepple/Mipple moments are grating not cute.
Pollun I shall admit, his spoiled brat, constant crying behaviour was annoying at first but as he is suggested to be a flat out child with a lot on his shoulders, his actions are more understandable and he does see some maturity while he's with the Precure team and he literally shine during the final battle. Pollun design wise is quite adorable (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) (If the actual doesn't count, I will say Pollun is best fairy but the bar is low.)
˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗Wisdom/ Stone Keeper ✨ He's very much part of the team, he was there go to for information before the Field of Light opened up to them and had a even more significant role in the second half, even if it was also a side-lined one (that's a skill really). I'm a sucka for the deadpan snarky characters and Wisdom is very much it, a snazzy design, helpful even though he's quite the coward and wonderfully snarky who got a chuckle out of me more than once. I'd go as far to say, Wisdom is not only my fave fairy but my fave character from the whole show.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆ In this case, as our villains, far out number the Cures, I'll narrow it down to a best and worst. Best:
I will give an honoury mention to her brother though. Poisony, the best disguises, with probably the best track record out of all of them and a lot of her losses, felt almost due to plot armour of the Precure aren't allowed to lose. Meanwhile Kiriya, who never really did anything as a villain nor really as an antagonist to the Cures themselves; his overall arc and over all impact it has later down the line, it carries on all the way to the finale ep, which is a lot more than most other villains can say (I was getting behind Kiriya/Honoka, so it's extra bittersweet).
Worst:
These three having no saving grace to them are as good as cardboard and we were stuck with them for the whole second half of the show. They are just so forgettable, I couldn't even tell you their names but considering these were the fragments of the Dyaku King, so much more could have been done with them, especially considering all the wild claims they started making near the end.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆⋆ ˚。⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。⋆
Can't really say I had a fave attack as there were none, just two finishers but I suppose, just for its iconic-ness, it has to be the Marble Screw.
Marmorcuratrix (2025)
Marmorcuratrix, updated for 2025! His design is far harder to draw than it seems. Marmorcuratrix is the Stone Keeper and god of the Stone Spiritus. He is also the largest of the eight Keepers, being pretty much the size of a Kaiju.

Wisdom and that background dude
Imagine being the real keeper of all the infinity stones:
Everyone was fooled
Honestly, super shocked that they literally wasted half of their lives searching for some rocks that destroy the entire universe just to find out they only had to look for one person
A young women, like yourself
Looking completely defenseless with all the infinity stones hanging from you're neck
(The stones are in the shape of a necklace, if you need clarification)
So, when they saw you
Just waiting there
They thought this seemed way too easy
Like as in, super suspicious
The Avengers all glanced at each other
All thinking the same thing
'Why would they let a normal human protect the most powerful things in the universe?'
That's the thing, though
You're immortal
So that's why no one has gotten the real stones before
You're a decedent of the people that made all the stones
So obviously, you're super powerful
And super dangerous
Kinda why you are guarding the stones
(I lied, that is the reason why)
If you're wondering what you look like,
You look 25
You stopped growing or rather you're body was not changing
You still aged
But it was more, mentally
Now, back to the Avengers wondering why you're the guardian
First of all though, to clear things up you are not on either side
As in, Thanos or the Avengers
You were born, raised to protect the stones, and that's it
You are not allowed to have an opinion
So, that is why you did not give the stones over when Mr. Tony Stark asked for them
Obviously, Stark was loosing patience
But you, on the other hand, literally have all the time in the world
So all you did was sit down
Why?
Because you're legs were a little tired
Part 2?
Polaris and Stone Keeper :)
dare i say CP coded
JC ponieeeeeeeeeees agagagahaghaghahg. Janeway is Goldenbird and Chakotay is Stone Keeper teehee! :3

Mon - Futari wa Precure - EP 47 - 49
The last stretch for the original run is here and with six going at once, it has felt like a long time getting here. (Not doing that again, definitely need an overlap day, just in case), so with out further ado, let's see what the original Precure run has to offer for it big conclusion.
EP 47
Pfft, you couldn't spell it out any easier for them, talk about a lighthouse in the dark.
o.O? Whose doing that then? It's usually the villain trio but it isn't like they were trying to pull them away for battle, plus they had more pressing matters, so whose behind the illusions this time?
Saving some pennies with the repetition of this scene. But you realise, Futari Wa team could ironically do with a third member to balance out the numbers.
Jyaku King is unsurprisingly, taking this rather personally, he's already destroyed one planet and sun in his rage but the twist, he doesn't swallow them but instead the three seeds fuse into one and are challenging Jyaku King.
The even bigger twist... how is he alive?
EP 48
Oh, so he's in some sort Limbo is he? That's a rough end.
Give them points for determination.
Pollun tried but realm hoping is one trick his power apparently doesn't have, now you just feel sorry for these two, they so badly want to help but can't do anything.
Aww, look how far these two have come and unlikely duo to be the saviours of the hour. Plus Kiriya took a shot for them to.
The guys escaped the Dotsuku zone, entered the Field of rainbows and he still has no legs? He isn't chained down or sealed anymore, did they just forget?
EP 49
It's just a snazzy shot of them.
Ha, it's the intro shot again, that's the second time they've done that. But being grateful at becoming a Pretty Cure, so that you can beat up the EB with your own two hands (ᗒᗜᗕ)՛̵̖ what an answer! (Don't think you'll hear them admit to that now-a-days)
The power of screaming folks! That was a really anti-climatic finish on the whole and we're just left to assume Wisdom collect the Prism Stones again because they shot off in all directions when Dyaku King spat out, not one, as if to indicate they went straight back to him.
Wait... so why does Honoka, give the graduation speech? Is there no Student Council at their school?
And how does that work? Was Kiriya reborn? Is that even Kiriya or just a random kid who shares his appearance...This leaves so many questions! The whole Kiriya/ Honoka angle is bitter sweet to the very end, I can't believe how long they dragged it out for, constant jab at the feels.
And with that part one of Futari Wa is finished.
The ending wasn't anything spectacular, it was a very strong mid finish. It was nice that external figures were also assisting in the final fight, it was a different way to help give the Precure a boost.
Although, I think the Finale is hurt by the lack of consistency from the show through out. In the end, the Precure didn't defeat any of the three seeds, they didn't eliminate the combined form either, that was the Dyaku King striking them down while they were distracted. If anything, the Precure haven't actually defeated any one since Poisonny, it's always been some one or something else and that does damage them going forward, along with the lack of consistency in the power of their attacks. On the plus side, Dyaku King did chase them down to eliminate them and didn't leave them a chance to recover, so at least we had an EB with brain cells engaged which is a nice change of pace, even if he was underwhelming for the rest. (darn did they go through so many buildings during that battle though XD) So really, the hero of the hour is actually Pollun and not the Precure... that seems a bit awkward.
Mepple and Mipple have stayed with them but are now having an eternal slumber again over returning to the Field of Light... and considering those two aren't exactly the most endearing as it is, I felt nothing, besides they didn't actually go, go, unlike most other partners, so they have that. Which considering how it flowed, a second series was definitely known to be happening, it is very open.
I'll give the finale a 6/10, almost as mid as it gets and mostly because of Pollun's and Wisdom's growth being shown.
