Not the most, nor the best ofpictures, but here's the complete troll horde I deployed against a slayer army this weekend. Loads of vomit, belching and honourable deaths! Great Fun!

“Stone Troll”
Still wanted to be productive during my art dryspell, so I decided to draw several troll species in Tolkien works and the various physical differences between the three in a field guide format.
Stone trolls— max. 13ft. Capable of common speech; vulnerable to sunlight; often a social species that aggregates in sibling or closely-related groups. No claws; fingernails with fingers capable of dexterous grips and manipulation. Dentition similar to Man, albeit with slightly sharper canines for shearing. Opportunitistic omnivores.
Cave troll— max. 17ft. Communication via growls and rumbles often in frequencies lower than Man can discern, which aids in finding each other in complicated cavern systems. Groups tend to be matrilineal with females and young. Males disperse when of reproductive age. Three-fingered clawed hands make gripping tools and high dexterity difficult but not impossible. Also vulnerable to sunlight, but rarely leave caverns beyond desperate male dispersal (usually males disperse via creating their own tunnel systems). Blunted dentition for feeding on roots, tubers, and underground mushrooms. ‘Jowls’ aid in keeping dirt out of mouth during excavation.
Olog-hai— max. 15ft. Highly intelligent troll species, capable of both common speech, Black speech, and Orcish. Clawed five-fingered hands with great dexterity, capable of holding and manipulating tools. Social groups tend to be matriarchal due to females being of slightly taller, larger size; unlike cave trolls, males do not regularly disperse. Sun vulnerability bred out during the Third Age. Opportunistic omnivores.
Pssst, don't wake it up!
they all have different approaches to “adventuring in the woods”
