Some modelling and greenstuff work
I spent way too much time on this piece, and I really detested painting it. I think I started her three times over, the because the primer wouldn't stick on the resin (you can still see that on some places in the hair and onthe extremities of the leaves), pieces broke of during stripping and handling, there's also not a lot of definition in the sculpt; she very smooth. Which makes looking for color planes a bit more challenging. Initially I wanted to giver her a some kind of bluish-green glow from below as if were the water reflecting on her skinn, But after years of this bust sitting on my desk, and all the trouble I had with her, I think I'm going to call her done. I really like how her face turned out though, and the little frog too! I also got a new macro lens, which allows me to make extreme close-ups! Like real life portraits of the miniatures! I can't get enough of that, it also shows all the brush strokes and textures, so I'll be uploading these pictures in full resolution :) I still have lots of other mermaids figure I'ld like to paint though, But I'm afraid I won't be finishing these for mermay 2026.
I started making stickers to update my books with the new rules, last year when TOW update 1.5 came out. I finally managed to finish this project last week. They're non permanent, like a post-it, so I can adjust and remove them when I feel like it. Honestly, I feel GW is missing an opportunity to sell sticker packs with their updates and errata's. I, for one, like to keep my books up to date.
Not the most, nor the best ofpictures, but here's the complete troll horde I deployed against a slayer army this weekend. Loads of vomit, belching and honourable deaths! Great Fun!
Haven't been painting a lot this last week, mainy because I'm kind of stuck on a bust I've come to loath. So I've been converting and drawing a lot, hoping it would give me some other insights. Perhaps I should share some of my illustration works. Anyhow, these aren't ready to be painted in quite a while, but I have this idea for a Bretonnian Questing knights army. Where lords could be mounted on different questing beasts. I already made a figure for a drake rider and one on an asperii. But with these two I'm adding the options of a dragon and a bull (like those Brazilian police officers on water buffaloes). As for units, I already have some chocobo knights, but I was thinking of making some vaulting knights, wielding two swords for an extra attack, using only their legs as riding aids. Could be cool!
Not sure if I ever showed this, but I have an entire cabinet full of kingdom death's kickstarter mini's (speed)painted to resemeble bone/ivory. Just recently I was able to get my hands on an oblivion mosquito and a slenderman, to complete me collection. Spent years looking for that bug!
Added this last one for good measure.
Finished these mire kelpies I got of ebay. the latest nurgle release is the first time Papa Nurgle tempted me! those aos pestigors are absolutely amazing. And these kelpies were great fun to paint with inks and airbrsuh. I als painted a little regeneration token for my trollhorde, since that's a spell available in troll magic. I'll be fielding a unit of 15 boys and because you know, orcs are funghi, sprouting from the ground, this little vegetable seemed appropriate.
Troll hag coven (and a lil' river troll)
Started my troll hag coven
the complete gang
finished this big boy
finished these two butt-heads
Colorblocking!
starting some skinnwork on the giants for my troll horde first airbrush, then inks, after that brushwork and some spongeing.
A little progress on the troll horde...
