The Lithobolia, also known as the stone-throwing devil, is an evil spirit from English folklore, most famous for appearing in the Richard Chamberlayne story of the same name. It is said to have haunted a New England family; throwing stones, brick, hammers and utensils at them.
The story of the Lithobolia hauntings spread throughout Britain and the United States, leading to unease and even accusations of witchcraft. There are some who believe that the hauntings were a key stepping stone in the path to the Salem witch trials.
