MOON 11
Ughhhdjwbdjeberrr ive been focusing on AF recently instead of this. Heres the sketches i did fir this moon tho
Territories! Plus the human map, as well :)
I know the compass is sideways, but I made it that way for a reason. The sun rises in the West and sets in the East, right? I figure the sun plays a big art in Stoneclan's adoration of the sky (and stars!), so it makes sense that it would rise from the very place the stars do!
🎭 Does your clan have any specific traditions, rituals, or holidays? 🗺️ What does the territory look like? Any unique landmarks?
HAI HAI HAIII :3 I had SO much fun doing this, it let me think about Stoneclan and its neighbors much more than I did before!! This is gonna be a loooonnggg post, so buckle up…
Stoneclan, being a new clan (it is not even a year old), does not have any of it's own traditions yet. However, there are territory-wide celebrations that happen! There are three major ceremonies, and four major holidays! Regarding the ceremonies, the three of them are for the Leader, Herbalist, and Deputy- aka, the Big Three.
CEREMONIES, TRADITIONS, HOLIDAYS
LEADER
The Leader ceremony is the most glorious, as it celebrates the Birth of a New Life and the Death of an Old Life). It is a celebration that brings all of the clans together to share tongues and prey and to celebrate the new leader's position. This celebration typically takes place before the leader is granted their nine lives from Starclan. Within this celebration, shortly after it begins, the new leader is given the blessings of the other leaders (or, if the leader is not present for whatever reason, the Herbalist will give their blessing instead). These blessings come in the form of words and dyes! The color of dye has meaning, just as placement does. Now, the meaning can be changed if the one Blessing wishes to speak it, but they all have universal meanings as well! But with these universal meanings comes double meanings, as well, due to less than favorable leaders in the past. Blossomstar, given he was kittypet before he was a leader, was given all of the blessings (just as a safe measure). From Cloudstar, leader of Bleakclan, Blossom was given the blessings of Faith (white) and Undying Loyalty (blue). From Goldenstar, leader of Frondclan, Blossom was blessed with Tireless Energy (green) and "to keep your clan and yourself safe" (red). From Mistypaw, the Junior Herbalist of Violetclan, Blossom was given the blessings Strength (black) and Love (brown/gold). Each of these colors were given to him AFTER his nine lives, though, due to Starclan giving him them prior to his appearance in the territories. The new leader, once they have shared tongues with Starclan, will emerge with a pale golden star on their forehead.
HERBALIST
Herbalists have a much more secluded ceremony, as it typically is just the Herbalists themselves with only their apprentice and leader. This ceremony is much less grand, but no less important, as it signifies the deep relationship Herbalists have with their wild ancestors and even strengthens it. The new Herbalist is, too, blessed by the other Herbalists, though typically with only red, blue, or green dyes. For Herbalists, these colors have similar meanings as Leader's, though they can be altered if they so wish. However, the placement of these dyes are very special. The dyes will be painted on the new Herbalist, with places meaning as followed: foreheads for Memory, chest for Connection, and paws for Truth. After the new Herbalist is blessed and colored, they will be sent to share tongues with Starclan by themself. The other Herbalists will wait outside for them to return with their new knowledge and changed appearance. Once the new Herbalist has been visited by Starclan, they will gain white markings under their eyes that sort of resemble eyebags. After this ceremony, the new Herbalist will be granted permission to travel to each clan to see share tongues and learn that final bit about being an Herbalist. Depending on the clan, the new Herbalist may even be granted to care for the sick for their time in the camp!
DEPUTY
Deputies have the least glorious but the most grounded ceremony. They are given verbal blessings from their Leader and Herbalist before they are sent to the Nest of Stars to speak with their ancestors. They are under the same oath as their Leader and Herbalist, to not reveal what happens during these sacred dreams, which makes the ceremony all the more a shock. Those without nerves of steel or hearts of unshakeable gold typically are the ones to walk out with the Mark of Starclan. These dreams... These dreams are terrifying, to say the least. It challenges the deputy's ability to hold themself together even in the darkest of times. It challenges the deputy's ability to fight for their clan. It challenges the deputy's will.
THE HOLIDAYS
(I wasn't able to make a doodle for this, sorry!) Stoneclan, along with the rest of the clans, have three major holidays! They have The Giving, which is their equivalent of, say, our Christmas mixed with Valentine's Day! The Giving is to celebrate those you care about (no matter relation). The Giving is celebrated on the fourth sunrise of each Newleaf. They have the Day of the Dead, which is exactly what it seems; a day to celebrate those who have passed on from this life and into the next. It is also the day where the barrier between Life and Death is the thinnest, and certain ghosts can interact with the living world! Often times, it is held communally, where ghosts can talk and tell stories to the living. This is usually done at the Gathering Place! It is typically the second week of leafbare that this is celebrated, but sometimes it might just happen sooner. The clans also have annual feasts! It's a lot like our Thanksgiving (except minus the whole colonizing part...). The clans will come together and share a feast, not unlike the Leader Ceremony! These feasts, called The Great Feast, are on the first day after the last frost of Newleaf, when the territories are teeming with life! Every cat, no matter age or rank, is allowed to join if they so wish (kits are often supervised by at warriors from their respective clans, but there is a patch of bare grass where the kits may play as long as at least four warriors are nearby to keep them safe). This means that very little cats are left at the camps, but the clans have mutual trust in each other to not attack during such a peace-filled time.
STONECLAN TRADITIONS
See, I don't have a lot for Stoneclan on traditions, all things considered. However, I do have some ideas I'd like to add as we progress! Courting and Mates: Courting cats will share treasures with each other, often using shiny things! Shiny things such as gems, beetle skins, or things forgotten by visiting humans! When they wish to be official, one (or both!) of the cats will bring the one they've been courting a special purple gem from the riverbed. If the feelings are reciprocated, the gem will sit in their shared nest! If not, then they will go their separate ways. Kings and Queens: Kings and Queens are not out of place by any means if they join the nursery, regardless of the kits they care for or their age. No judgement will befall them. Kings and Queens are given the same treatment; they are given rest of their duties up until the kits are apprenticed, and they are meant to be fed before the Warriors. "King" refers to the father of a litter, whether he adopted, birthed, or is the sole carer for them. "Queen" refers to the mother of a litter, whether she adopted, birth, or is the sole carer for them. They may choose to be exempt from their duties during the time they care for their kit(s), or they may continue as much as they want.
TERRITORY
Stoneclan's territory resides in the high, rocky hills between Bleakclan and Violetclan and across from Frondclan! They seem to have the smallest territory, but in fact, they might have the largest! It only seems shrunken down due to the fact there's so many different altitudes between any given point. The camp is nestled beneath a sheer drop and inside of an old, abandoned two-leg camp. The camp itself is a very strange thing to see up close (but I think that deserves its own post!). As for the landmarks! The landmarks are as listed: - Hawk's Point: A spot where hawks will nest during Newleaf. It is advised to stay away, as the hawks become more aggressive during that season, but it is a good place to find feathers. - The Creep: A deep crevasse that often has minor but dangerous landslides. It's advised to stay away unless accompanied by a whole patrol (2-4 cats). In it grows a special herb used to treat certain frostbites and greencough. - Pond: A lazily flowing body of water that forms from a gently flowing waterfall near the camp. It's used often to fish minnows or to gather water. - The Drop: A place beside the river that is known for it's steep walls and seemingly bare floor. Sometimes, strange creatures can be seen sniffling around. Cats assume there's a hidden cave in The Drop. It is only used if the floods are bad, or if there's a problem hunting. - The Bend: A thin part of the river that's notorious for its rapid flow. Cats have been known to been swept away in the rough current, but it's great to fish in. - The Gully: A dip in the ground between the forest and some of the plain territory. It's known for rich mice hunts and the occasional fox den. - The Crossing Tree: A fallen tree that still has some of it's roots in the floor. It's great for hunting birds and is great for when the floods are too high to cross the river normally.
AAAAA I had a lot of fun with this!! It challenged my skills in making comic-like explanations, and to figure out unique lands and whatnot >:3 Tysm, Lucky!!!!! I'll also be posting these by themselves so I can more easily link each one :3 Which means some extra detail MIGHT be added!!hjsdsjhdskabd
