Jason Todd x Reader | Fluff, Humor, Soft ChaosWord count: ~900
Warnings: mild intoxication (reader is tipsy/high), swearing, extreme clinginess, soft Jason
Summary: You’re drunk. Possibly high. Jason is babysitting. You think the ceiling lights are constellations. He’s questioning his life choices—and also maybe a little in love with you.
Jason found you sprawled on the couch like a melted candle, arms stretched out dramatically, legs dangling off one armrest, head tilted back so far he was amazed you hadn’t passed out from the blood rush.
You giggled. Like, full-on giggled.
“Ohhhh… Jason,” you sighed dreamily, pointing up at the ceiling. “Look at the stars. So many.”
Jason blinked. Looked up.
Ceiling tiles.
Flickering LED lights.
And what appeared to be a cobweb shaped like a jellyfish.
“…We’re inside,” he deadpanned. “Those are just lights.”
“Nooo,” you whispered in that dramatic, faux-profound way that only people fully blitzed out of their minds can pull off. “Ursa Major… I see her. She’s… smiling at me.”
Jason pinched the bridge of his nose. “Ursa Major is a bear.”
You gasped. “She’s a bear!?”
“Oh my god—”
“I thought she was a beautiful woman made of stars! Like—like Galadriel or some shit!”
“You’re thinking of Cate Blanchett.”
Your eyes welled up instantly. “She’s soooo pretty, Jay… do you think she’d adopt me? Or turn me into starlight?”
Jason stared at you. “Okay. What did you take.”
You wiggled your fingers in the air like you were casting a spell. “Just some wine. A little weed. Maybe like… a teensy bite of Tim’s edible gummy. He said it would help me relax!”
Jason turned slowly toward the kitchen where Tim was hiding, very much pretending to clean a mug. “Timothy Drake—”
“Don’t yell at him, he’s delicate!” you said, flopping sideways and nearly rolling off the couch. “You’re so mean when you’re hot and broody.”
“I’m mean because I am hot and broody,” Jason muttered, catching you before you slipped fully to the floor. You clung to him like a koala.
You gasped again. “Jason. I think I’m floating.”
He just tightened his grip a bit. “You’re not floating. You’re clinging to me like I’m a tree and you’re high out of your mind.”
You blinked at him. “You smell like gunpowder and cinnamon.”
“I—what?”
“And your eyes?” You leaned in like you were about to confess the secrets of the universe. “Galaxies. But like, angry ones.”
He almost laughed. Almost.
Instead, he gently sat you up and grabbed a bottle of water.
“Hydrate. Now.”
You took the bottle with reverence, like he’d just handed you the Holy Grail. “You always take care of me.”
“Because you keep doing this,” he said, gesturing vaguely at your dazed form.
You squinted at him. “You like it.”
“I don’t.”
“You do,” you said with the certainty of someone who thought the ceiling was a constellation map. “You like when I’m soft and loopy and clingy.”
He tried not to smile. Failed. “You’re annoying.”
You beamed. “But adorable?”
He sighed, pulling you closer and tucking your head against his chest.
“Yeah,” he said softly, fingers brushing through your hair. “Fucking adorable.”
You yawned. “Mmm… wake me when the stars start moving, okay?”
“Sure,” he muttered, settling in with you. “Just as soon as Ursa Major starts doing the cha-cha.”
Clearly, you’d drifted away with your thoughts again, so Bucky cupped your chin with his human hand and tilted your head back to look at him, refocusing your waning attention. He leaned in close to you, his warm breath smelling of mint, as though he had been getting ready for bed before he’d caught you.
His pink lips brushed against yours as he spoke, more softly this time. “Do. You. Want. Me. To. Stop.” he emphasized every word as clearly as he could, more like a statement than a question, but your mind now could only focus on the touch of his lips on yours. The pressure wasn’t nearly enough.
Your eyes fluttered and you shook your head, swallowing thickly as your mouth went dry.
“Words, doll.” He murmured, his hand leaving your jaw to join the other at the small of your back before they each drifted to your hips, giving a light squeeze. It was the only thing tethering you to focus. “Use your words.” He reiterated, not removing his hands though his thumbs moved in small circles along your hips.
