He feels the other's gaze before he feels the touch. When it comes to his scars, for most of them, Jeremy hardly even remembers they're there... Until someone mentions them, at least. But the one on his neck has always been different. He doesn't know why, or how - or really, even, the logistics of it. He's pretty sure that the body he's in now isn't technically the one that Silas sunk his fangs into. Jeremy's been bit plenty of times, but it's the one time that he could ever say his skin was well and truly ripped open, and maybe that's why it's the one that really stayed. Because it was the one that killed him. Really killed him - for a long time. Most people don't even see it - it's an odd thing, the raised, textured flesh on the side of his neck. Invisible until the light hits it just right and throws shadows into each crease, every mountain and valley that marks the one time Jeremy died and stayed dead for a noticeable amount of time. The one time he'd died and his body had begun to rot and decay. The touch sends a shiver down his spine, body trembling as his breath hitches in his throat. That side of his neck - that part of his past - is the one part of his body Jeremy doesn't like being touched. The one place he's actively steered people's lips away from after he acquired the scar, turning away and pretending it's not there. But he can't deny that the shiver that goes through him when Damon touches him isn't necessarily a bad one - for the vampire, at least, it's more like his entire body is alive, and in a weird way, his chest hurts, like someone's taken a ice cream scooper and hollowed it out. He doesn't like feeling so vulnerable, such a thing not quite in his nature, so all he can do is let out a choked sort of gasp that's supposed to be a laugh, his gaze flicking to the side just a touch. "Oh- what, have you never noticed that one before?" He wants to pretend it doesn't matter, that it's inconsequential, not the live wire it suddenly feels like. "Ain't got no shortage of them... Jus' another one, I guess." Except of course Damon knows what it's from - it's kind of hard to forget, even if Jeremy won't admit it.
The hand on his shoulder, fingertips splayed across that scar tightened, something solid to hold on to. Unmoving. A promise without speaking. Damon had been making a lot of those lately, despite the literal century and a half between them, they were just a couple of emotionally crippled young men. Two peas in a fucked up pod. The vampire stepped closer, enough that Jeremy would feel the heat of him on his back. A second hand fell on the other shoulder, squeezing once, before both slid down along his arms.
It wasn't supposed to happen. Damon wasn't even sure was 'it' was. He and Elena had been on the rocks since she started college and Stefan was back in the picture. Jeremy was dealing with being resurrected for the fiftieth and attempting to finally finish his senior year. The vampire had been doing his best to look out for the guy and in one emotional conflict after another something had changed. A flip switched and a step was taken that could not be taken back.
As Damon closed the final gap between them and wrapped his arms loosely around the little Gilbert's chest, resting his chin on his shoulder, he was pretty sure he didn't want to take it back.
"Right, just another one, nothing special." He teased, poking at the discomfort, the vulnerability, showing his brand of affection the only way he knew how. "It has absolutely nothing to do with enemies that just keep getting older? Let's see, Katherine was five hundred, Klaus was a thousand, Silas was two thousand. Means the next hybrid dragon fairy type will be four?"

Trouble found Giselle at her new school in the form of Google. It had been maybe a month since she started here, and the kids already found out about who her dad was. Sitting at a lunch table alone while she read a book, that was her solace now, her peace. At least she wasn’t getting ambushed. She heard some leaves and twigs hear her snap, and the sound got louder until it stopped close to her. “Can I help you?”

Lizzie was walking out of her room and heading downstairs when she suddenly spotted a man down there as she lifted an eyebrow when she walked further down she noticed who it was. “Jeremy, what are you doing here?” The blonde asked while she was looking at him while folding her arms over each other. “You here for my dad.” She then eventually said to him more in like an asking form.
“Yes, I am indeed hungry.” He arches a brow, swirling his bourbon in his glass before he looks back up toward Jeremy. “Why do you ask?”

"the gardens of this property are really beautiful", katherine confessed after they've passed the big fountain placed in the middle of it. the brunette appreciated the beauty, the blooming flowers, and the butterflies that could be seen occasionally. it's a welcoming distraction. although showing her the gardens cannot be the reason for the invitation.
nonetheless, katherine kept the topic of their conversation casual and didn't yet ask of the reasons.
"i think it's a difficult task to manage all these extensive grounds at such a young age."
❝ Sure, I’ll take another beer. Thanks, pal. ❞
