Hello Allies! What we know about SESTA/FOSTA Amendment of Section 230 safe harbour (1996) of the Communications Decency Code, which allows liability of hosts for user content in claimed cases of sex-trafficking. • Previous to this bill, during the raiding and arrests of the owners of Redbook, BackPage and Craigslist, they would go to court and claim freedom of speech under section 230, which stipulates that internet hosts cannot be responsible for the content created by their users. And they’ve always won, due to this stipulation. However the feds would keep pursuing them and crush them financially and emotionally with malicious prosecution and harassment from swerfs. • FOSTA/SESTA creates an exception so sites can no longer use Section 230 to defend against alleged sex trafficking and this exception applies retroactively
