No, I did not meet the Wal-Mart Racist

In fact, I never knew he existed

Until you told me the horrible things

He said to you when you were but a child

In front of your mother

Because of the color of your skin

Of course she told them off

But you remembered

And could never forget

I sat listening

And I looked

And I looked to my skin

Then I looked to yours

How are we so different?

The truth is

We are not

We are the same

We have the same likes

We both are in the same grade

We both have dark hair

And yet

For the tiniest detail, a mere pigment
