The 3 main reasons on why junk news is spread all throughout your feed is due to algorithms, advertising and exposure.. Algorithms are a huge help to the social media aspects, without them we would have to sort our feed personally, which would take ages. Algorithms are here for us consumers to understand the consume the information thrown out. Another term for these algorithms would be considered a ‘filter’. Filters are set to either have new information pop up rather than old, or the other way around. Plenty of examples could be shared. Whether the content is true or not, that's where or personal brain power kicks away those false statements around the internet. Advertising is a power move when comes to social media content, in order to get the product seen or heard, its up to the ad to promote. All based on time and quality of the ad, if longer than 30 seconds and the consumer has seen over 30 seconds, then that company or individual would get paid for their advert. Clickbait is there to determine your likelihood and filter out the videos you enjoy to view. Including the fact that people are hired to promote a certain product, although they have no common sense around the item. This would empower the various actors to micro-target their potential voters and viewers. Ads are all determined by strategic sales and messages. Finally, the exposure on junk news. Although the algorithms and advertisements get the message across, the exposure is where the damage is done. Once the image or post s out there, its out there and theres no way of returning it. For example, If you were at a party and you didn't want someone knowing, and someone posts about the video, that is going to network around and is soon received by the person that didn't considerably know about it. Junk news could be spread in the blink of an eye. Whether is something that wasn't supposed to surface the media, or whether or not it was the wrong information handed out. Either way, you don't want people to view your company or you as an individual as a problem to society or an issue with what your selling.
