The endangered juvenile Leatherback Turtles are starting their long journey from the nest now in Palm Beach County Florida! Normally only a tiny fraction will mature and help populate the species! Now that we have added tons of plastic, removed their nesting areas and continue to allow long lines this tiny fraction is much much less! We must do more to help nature on our planet! We must change our planets direction into a sustainable direction. Here are just a few things we can do that will help dramatically! Leatherback turtle entering the ocean for the first time in Juno beach, Florida at sunrise! This endangered species is really in a league all to its self. It is one of the only reptiles worldwide that can generate heat. It's the longest and heaviest of the sea turtles reaching 13ft 10 inches and 2024 lbs. It's the deepest diving reptile at 640 meters. It has the longest migratory route crossing both the Pacific as well as the Atlantic Ocean depending on which ocean they live in (Roughly 12,000 miles). Sadly this species has only a fraction of the numbers it once had and is listed as endangered. We must protect our wildlife much better than we have in the past! Removing plastics and long lines would be a tremendous start!
