Hi everyone! Please take a minute or two to read this! This is NOT chain-mail!
After you read this, another man, woman or child has entered the trafficking industry.
I'm Yi-Xhuan, a student from Tenby International School. This year, I will be participating in this year's 24 Hour race, organised by Running To Stop The Traffik (a complete youth-led organisation). My team of 8 girls will be taking turns to run for a full 24 hours. Why?
We're not winning the fight against slavery.
Modern slavery is a $150bn dollar industry that virtually no one knows about. There are 35 million victims of slavery each year but only 44,000 are helped annually. What's worse? There are only 5,500 convictions of trafficking yearly!
Modern slavery is characterised by the denial of basic freedom and human dignity when a victim is exploited for economic or personal gain.
Modern slavery is hidden in red light districts and factories, on fishing boats and farms, through our supply chains and even within homes. In no country is this practice legal yet there is no country in the world without slavery.
Our mission is to end human trafficking and modern-day slavery by fundraising and spreading the awareness through youth engagement and leadership.
Here's the thing- you can help too!
Please join me and millions of other youths to fight modern slavery. Kindly pledge or donate your help and kindness to this account: https://www.justgiving.com/Yi-XhuanK/ Every cent makes a difference.
All proceeds will go towards our two beneficiaries this year: SUKA Society (Malaysia) and Circus Kathmandu (Nepal).
Thank you, feel free to message me anytime for more info!
