Special interest groups line the Yes on Measure O coffers. The Players Poker Club (gambling) gave $10,000. So did Toro Industries (street repair). Developers JDA West LLC, Ravello Holdings, and John Ashkar gave large amounts. City trash collector E.J. Harrison & Sons also contributed. Each has something to gain if Measure O wins. Don’t let big money influence pubic policy.
The Ventura County Star is the latest to attack Measure O. They call it a "regressive tax." Furthermore, they believe city politicians didn't "convinced us that the sales tax is the last and only option to meet these [the city's] needs." The VC Star, Ventura Unified School District, Steve Bennett and Councilmember Jim Monahan all shot down Measure O. Voters should, too.

There is no reason for Measure O, Ventura’s sales tax hike, according to David Grau and Barbara Whatley. Ventura’s finances are not a problem. Tax revenue and spending are up. City employees received substantial pay, bonus and benefit increases. Raising the sales tax is absolutely unnecessary.
