The troubles of the world cloud our vision of the progress we are making, such as the hijacking of democracy and, dare I say it, capitalism, too, has been hijaked. Capitalism is more and more a "bad word" these days. It is inevitable that capitalism will end, as everything ends.
Two-hundred years ago, capitalism began when merchants rose up against the oppression of the aristocracy, just as we are now rising up against the oppression of the capitalists.
It is never the system itself that oppresses us, but people who take it over with greed in their hearts. What comes next? The next wave is part revolution, part renaissance, part evolution. We inch ever forward to a society founded on equality, wisdom and wise leadership. Slowly, at a snails pace. A pace, perhaps, beyond our ability to perceive the progress sometimes.
Slowly, we move ahead. Let's not let the setbacks dominate our worldview.
