#storing skates

Hello! I just got new skates, bit I won't be skating until september. My skates are currently in their box, in the very little and thin 'skate guards' they came with. I bought new soakers too, and I was wondering if I should put the soakers on the blades now, and until september, or if it's not necessary since the blades haven't been used yet? I'm just so scared something might happen to them before I even start haha! Thank you very much!!!

If you haven’t skated in them, you don’t need to put soakers on them unless you’re storing them in an exceptionally humid place.

Hi! I was wondering if you had any tips for storing the skates off season to prevent the blades from rusting.

Store them in a cool dry place, preferably where they can be aired out or at least not somewhere they’ll be completely stifled. Store them with something like potpourri or dried herbs or moth balls or stink ezes to keep them from stinking and make sure nothing is on top of them that might crush them. Before putting them into storage make sure they are completely dried inside and out and make sure the blade soakers are dry as well. Any moisture can cause rust so storing it with silica bead packs inside the soakers will help as well.

Heya! I won't be able to skate for several months and I just want to ask how I should store my skates so that it wouldn't be damaged over that period of time. Like how can I prevent the blades from rusting or the boots from deforming, etc. Thank you!

So you want to store them in a place that will stay a consistently cool temperature, if you leave them in say, a garage, they can deform because of the heat, so store them somewhere cool and dry and if possible where they can air so leave them uncovered until they dry completely and if you can store drying packs in them (sneaker balls, stink ezees, or diy them by putting rice or baking soda in a panty hose foot or sock and mixing it with fresh herbs or essential oils then tying it off), keep the blades in soakers, make sure they’re dry before you put them on the blades for extended storage and finally don’t store them underneath something that might squish them.
