PARKER. ( continued from here ) 

     it had all happened so FAST – or had it?? Surely he could have done something – had time to stop it all from happening. why hadn’t he?? why the hell was he just STANDING there; mouth agape and eyes wide in SHOCK. he’s almost sure it’s never hit him like this. the last time he remembers feeling close to this was when his mom died. first it’s the feeling of helplessness, and then the loss of all proper cognitive processing, until you’re left with nothing but a blank stare. but his expression doesn’t hold up for very long, when it’s soon replaced with a look of HORROR. 

                    ❛ dammit Parker, why couldn’t you have just – ❜ but even as he asks, he knows the answer. it’s the reason they BOTH became cops. they wanted to HELP people. it was the nature of habit for them, it was in their blood. and so when Parker saw the woman, unaware that she was infected, she did the thing she thought was right. she tried to SAVE her. and jake too would have done the same, had he not seen the fluid leaking from her eyes, and the hollowed out look the woman wore. why hadn’t parker seen it too??

     he doesn’t think twice when he puts a BULLET through the head of the diseased stranger. maybe she had time, maybe they’d find a cure, and maybe she wasn’t going to hurt them. but he couldn’t – wouldn’t take the chance, not when his BEST FRIEND was involved. if he was being SELFISH than so be it, all he cared about now was parker. he was going to keep her SAFE and she was going to be OKAY. he had to believe that.

                    ❛ screw that, parker. you don’t get to tell me what to do. ❜ his voice is full of PAIN but he tries his best to keep a steady tone. he tries to hide the tremors, masking them with a vacant tone of strength. ❛ you’re going to be OKAY. this isn’t over, it’s not. we’re going to find a cure and you’re going to get to tell blake yourself what a kickass job you did in here. SAVING lives… including mine. ❜ he walks towards her, not because he’s forgotten, but because he doesn’t care. ❛ I’ll do whatever it takes. ❜ he should have never asked her to help in the first place. this was his fault.
