Adolin before the duel where Kaladin saved his life: “This bridgeboy is suspicious, annoying, and infuriating, I do not trust him, he is acting above his station, his horse skills suck and he’s a torn in my side.”

Adolin after the duel: Throws himself into jail to put additional pressure on his father and the king to release Kaladin, believes Kaladin’s claims against Amaram instantly and without hesitation despite admiring him beforehand, gives lavish gifts to him to elevate him nearly to the same rank as himself, encourages him to ride horses to further prompt the idea that Kaladin is his equal, initiates friendly idle talks, uses his first name and laughs at his bad jokes.

You know how in canon Adolin owns many horses, not only Sureblood?

So consider this: to Kaladin’s deepest dismay, Adolin gifts him a horse.

He cannot refuse the damned creature because Adolin, as he oh-so-subtly reminded him, had almost died and so he gets a to do as he likes for the day.

And so Kaladin is now the unhappy owner of a beautiful mare.
