Aftermath of Storm Jonas
the never ending trip
Saturday morning, we left Wellington on time to Auckland, and left Auckland on time to San Francisco. San Francisco is where we ran into some problems. Because of the storm Jonas, we were unable to fly back into DC on Saturday. Luckily, we had learned about this a few days in advance, so we had a chance to make accommodations ahead of time. It was really stressful trying to figure out hotel plans and rebooking flights, but it was all under control. It was actually a nice treat to be able to go to San Francisco for a few days as an added vacation to our trip. I saw the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square, and other tourist attractions in San Francisco I would have never been able to see otherwise. We definitely made the best out of our unfortunate situation.
With all of the confusion and madness it took for us to get home, it was a little more difficult to reflect on and appreciate the trip than I had expected. New Zealand was an amazing country, and I would love to go back again in a heartbeat. It is definitely a place I would love to go back to with my family or friends. As I’ve mentioned throughout my past blog posts, the cities are unbelievably clean, the views in all of the cities we went to were incredible, and all of the people had amazing attitudes. I also had such a great group of people to spend this time in this great country with, and I am so thankful for that. Everyone that I know who has returned from New Zealand has always raved about it, which added to my excitement coming into this trip. I can confidently now say that I am one of those many people who return from New Zealand with raving reviews dying to go back.
