The X-Files episode Never Again first aired on Febuary 2, 1997. The episode was the last scripted for the series by Glen Morgan and James Wong until the revival and only the second episode to show Scully going on a date with someone. Jodie Foster provided a voice for the episode. Foster played Clarice Starling in the movie adaptation of Silence of the Lambs, which played a role in inspiring the creation of Dana Scully. The episode was filmed before the episode Leonard Betts, which revealed Scully had cancer, but aired after it. Actress Gillian Anderson has stated that she would have played the episode differently had she known her character knew she was facing cancer. The episode pointed out how Mulder-centric the X-Files had been and how restless Scully had become with her life. After a dangerous affair and poisoned tattoo had risked her life on a lame assignment Mulder had put her on while he was at Graceland on a forced vacation, a confused Mulder asked if this was all because she didn't have a desk? Scully tells him seriously, "Not everything is about you, Mulder. This is my life." ("Never Again", X-Files, TV Event)
