Im listening to the stormlight archive again and Im again in absolute love with renarin kholin. nuanced and thoughtful autism representation in fiction just makes me vibrate at the speed of light, and it goes double in fantasy, especially when the terminology isn't there. authors putting time into showing us a character is autistic is such an important thing to me
this will kill you
jasnah and shalaan's relationship is GREAT i love them both. jasnah is so carefully controlled and then shalaan is like "im gonna jump in the ocean to get a better look at this rare creature" and then she turns around and goes Oh no I'm being improper while also ogling shirtless sailors
plus, strong female relationships in high fantasy is 👌👌
OKAY there's a lot going down in Oathbringer that I'd guessed might happen but HOLY SHIT i did not imagine that this would happen to Dalinar no not at all I'm literally shaking, mr sanderson sir this is the definition of a truly glorious knife to the back
[quiet screaming] I!! finished The Way of Kings. im not letting myself start Words of Radiance tonight because I think I'll wind up not sleeping if I do that, but here are some of my scattered Thoughts™
getting into this was slow but I found myself fixated without even realising i'd fallen, roughly halfway through. I think if it hadn't been an audiobook i may have abandoned it
but! I did not abandon it, and oh boy I'm pleased I didn't!
this magic system..... oh gods, this magic system!! it's genius.
(actually even in the first ten hours or so when I wasn't sure if I was enjoying the story, the magic system & worldbuilding kept me hooked)
the variety of races and peoples that inhabit Roshar is just *chef's kiss*
I want to talk more about specific characters but the downside of audiobook is that I don't know how to spell any of these names.... calledan? sadeaus? nivani? Sil? shalan?
but at least I can say with confidence (and without making a fool of myself w/ spellings) that Rock, Wit and Zeth have stolen my heart
actually the whole of Bridge 4 is just, i can't. im getting Emotions. truly a beautiful story about the power of love and caring for others,,, phenomenal
Also i stan one (1) prickly soul-casting scholar
still reeling from that last chapter and its epilogue
God! is! dead!
I've been eviscerated and I'd like to thank Brandon sanderson for doing it
that is all I can say with any coherence. I'm having love and feelings for a fake world and fake people, please come back in uhhhh idk. later on. and then maybe I'll be functional again
almost at the end of Oathbringer and im going feral. im about to combust. aHhH i heckin LOVE political machinations and dire stakes and epic fantasy and,,,,, hnnffffffvggggggggshshshsns the fact that this is so character-driven? all the twists and turns in the narrative so far? the truly splendid worldbuilding?? it's peak literature. also i still want to adopt renarin kholin
oh gods oh gods i am so in love with the stormlight archive im just!! it's the way Brandon sanderson takes you right to the edge of the abyss and then back again... how the stakes are high but the violence and death are never meaningless...... how the main messages are hope and love and resilence, and how those things don't cure the darkness but they do make it easier to bear......... sorry I need a minute or several hundred im gonna combust
