Ok, not that im comfortable with letting you guys know how sad i Really am, but... This is sooooooooooooooo much better than any tv program! Watching electrical storm radiances! Seeing visually how an electrical bolt spreads and influences other storms across Europe in real time! is pretty pretty cool if you ask me! :D I can see which clouds(cos theres a cloud view button) are causing my thunder bolts over here! Its deep! I love it! www.lightningmaps.org #ukstorm #ukstorm2014 #lightning #storm #stormmaps
Nor'easters (shown on the left) are very similar to hurricanes (shown on the left), they share gale force winds, severe damage, and a counterclockwise rotation. However, nor'easters unlike hurricanes do not have an eye, or center of the storm. Flooding, major waves, and rain are a few other characteristics the two share. A hurricane is a tropical storm, a nor'easter on the other hand is not, although a hurricane can form in a tropical storm environment.
December 1969 Nor'easter
Between December 25 and December 28 a high-end category 3 or low-end category 4 on the Northeast Snowfall Impact Scale
It began over Texas and moved eastward, moving faster towards New England
Nearly 40 inches of snow fell over the region
Highway roads were blocked due to equipment failure and snow added to the pre-existing snow
At least 20 people died
Entire communities were isolated because snow removal on roads was delayed
Strong winds afterwards caused the cleanup to be very difficult
Flooding also became an issue because of excessive rainfall and ice jams
Where do Nor'easters Occur?
Nor'easters can occur along the east coast of the United States and travel all the way up to the Atlantic facing side of Canada. Nor'easters cannot occur anywhere else in the world, this storm is exclusive to our area.
