Listen, while "Thunder Bringer" absolutely plays on Zeus' tendency to not care about willing consent, it also does something that modern interpretations rarely do and displays Zeus as a discerning judge in the character of men.
The line from the chorus "Lightning, wield her,/ use and yield her/ Show her what she can't conceal/ For true nature will be revealed"? Absolutely telling as to what is happening in this scene and all the events leading up to it. He accurately discerns not only what Odysseus' decision will be, thereby stripping Odysseus of any mask pride would have provided, but also passively strips Eurylochus of his pride as well.
Pride tells Odysseus that his wits can protect those in his command and get them all home, since they survived 10 years of war with nary a loss. Stripped of pride, Odysseus is a selfish man (we constantly hear Odysseus talk about Penelope and Telemachus and how he needs to see them). Pride mixed with grief is what fed Odysseus' hubris and caused him to reveal his name to Polyphemus, which dooms the Ithacan envoy along with any hope Odysseys had of reaching home in a timely manner.
Pride tells Eurylochus that he is the voice of the crew and that he cares for them. Devoid of pride, Eurylochus is a greedy and mistrustful man (his first reflexive plan of action is to raid the island of the lotus eaters instead of hunting or bartering, he argues with Odysseus about routes, opens the bag (implying the call of potential treasure was greater than believing the man he calls brother), he kills the cows). Pride mixed with desperation is what fed Eurylochus' hubris and caused him to kill Helios' cow(s), thereby angering Helios and summoning Zeus, which dooms Eurylochus and the crew.
And Zeus clocks that immediately in both of them, and condemns them for it.
Y’all mf’ers have me thinking about modern solutions to abo problems.
Alphas getting mouth guards so they don’t go laying claim to partners during rut or other risky play. The expensive ones are barely noticeable, like invisalign. There are cheaper ones but they make you look like you play high school flag football.
Hormone colognes and perfumes that are strong attractants but fine-tuned enough to make the wearer’s interests clear. Are you horny, cruising, looking for a life partner? There’s a scent for that.
Knot-blocking rings, because knotting is a little more intimate than just a quickie. There are also many omegas who find it a painful experience outside of heat and prefer to avoid it.
Being in heat or rut in public as a massive social taboo akin to dropping your drawers in a crowd full of strangers and asking to be [redacted]. That’s something to be dealt with at home—or at one of many resorts that cater to couples.
Suppressants coming in various forms: pills, gels or creams, injectable, or subcutaneous implants that last for years.
listen I might not know much about atla, but I finally watched the show and my current favorite theory is that Zuko was Sokka's bi awakening because all of the hot men had left when he was like, twelve
I just counted up and I have 62 pages of comics made for Sky Cotl. Wow! And I have a bunch more planned.
Okay, ultimately I am a Ninjago account, and I did want to post my thoughts for S2P2 (which I absolutely watched legally yesterday when it legally came out, uh huh, dw about it guys)
But generally-- I loved S2P2! I thought it's a step up from S2P1, and I really liked the characters. It was overall really good and I loved it. Of course, there's a few complaints I had, which I'll put under a 'keep reading' to ensure no one ends up reading something and spoiling themselves...
But overall, great season! Dragons Rising just keeps giving and I'm really loving it!
