There's this discord server I'm in (out of necessity not desire) that just had a huge anti-LGTBQ drama go down and now I'm annoyed so since it's pride I just wanna take a moment and explain my gender because it is cool and interesting and I've never fully explained it on here.
So the short answer is I'm nonbinary. The long answer is I'm always in the nonbinary category but I'm gender fluid and my gender fluctuates between nonbinary masc, nonbinary femme, androgenous, and a xenogender called Forestgender. My gender fluctuates slowly, over weeks to months. For the first 5 months of the year I was nonbinary femme but now I'm shifting back to be nonbinary androgenous/forestgender. It's pretty rare for me to be nonbinary masc but it has happened on occasion.
It taken me years to figure all this out but since then, this has been a very stable and accurate representation of my gender so I know this isn't just a phase, this is my reality.
✨XENOGENDERS ARE AWESOME ✨
In case you aren't familiar with what xenogender is, it is a gender that is outside of the male-female binary and can't be fully explained with other standard gender terms (like demi, agender, etc.) so it is explained using other words and concepts, like animals, nature, objects, aesthetics, or abstract concepts (such as cat, space, trucks, campingcore, or void).
I am not literally a forest. But my inner identity has traits and similarities to forests. For example: I tend to move through life slowly and deliberately like how plants and trees grow. Though sometimes intense emotions tear through my inner self like wildfires or storms I must weather. Just like how forests are dynamic ecosystems with many parts (and no matter how small, all of them are important) I am a dynamic person with many experiences, memories, interests, traits, and all of them are important and contribute to who I am.
In general, I feel most at home when I am in a forest. I love growing plants, looking at bugs and moss, climbing trees, identifying birds, animals, and plants, foraging for edible foods, watching documentaries about forest ecosystems and species. During times when my gender is forestgender, I prefer to wear clothes with forestcore patterns like trees, leaves, bugs, salamanders, birds, ferns, moss, etc. or earthtone colors like brown and green.
So yep, that's me in a nutshell 😊!
Xenogender and Forestgender pride flags ^^
If you wanna try a fun exercise, try describing your own gender (your inner sense of identity) using non-gendered terms, like "my gender is dragons, purple, flowing water, strength, and reflection."
