During the takedown the truth of there being no pay-off has Fet's crew turning on him. It's short lived as a strogi's timely attack gives them back the upper hand. Things are happening fast now strainiacs. Back to Q's back story where we have a tantalizing Strain adaptation of vampire erotica, hawt daamnnn. Am In the only one who thought Q looked like Sting. Throwing in the Master confused me, maybe it will lead to something. Eph and Alex arrive at New Horizon's, with aide of the one that got away. Just as they suspect it's a front for some nefarious outcome..... But first a chat with the Master sending word to Eph through a strogi that bratt ZAck is still alive. Please Eph don't let this distract you from the cause. You should of put her down #killzack The Masters end game is revealed, my first thought seeing "the farm" was consontration camps. #TheStrain "Colllaborators" opens with the unfolding of a backstory in 1941 that leads us to a Strain moment of six degrees of separation, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. First let's head to Brooklyn our time the teams are meshing in collaboration Quinlan joining up with Eph and Dutch to suss out their theory on the strigoi communication. Taking them on a road trip to the original outbreak JFK. Did y'all see catch that "umm" as Quinlan savored meeting Dutch! Fet and Setraikin are off on their own discovery trip to check on Fet's parents, this scene had me catching emotions. Setrakian delves into Fet's conflict with his father leading us to the backstory…. What can I say about Palmer, he has become a decaying walking corpse. Returning to Queens with Eph, Dutch and Quinlan we see the deeper effects of the vampapocalypse, with the decline of humanity humans turning on each other. The group comes upon a family being attacked, Dutch jumps to the rescue ignoring Quinlan's protests to stay the course setting off my favorite scene of the episode, Quinlan slaying in 2.5 seconds. Palmer and Eichorst's jabs delight me, don't count Palmer out just yet. A mystery begins to shape as Palmer gains access to a ship from Egypt and finds the vessel empty. What was in the hull… The backstory reveals disturbing facts about the Holocaust. We learn Fet's grandfather was forced to become a nazi collaborator by Eichorst killing jews. Fet's emotional telling of this to Setraikin was shattering to hear. Eph, Dutch and Quinlan make it to JFK and retrieve the black box from the infected airplane in a storage locker. Things are looking hopeful. Palmer becomes useful to Setrakian sharing his knowledge of the ship and earns himself a bump of the good stuff. Palmer takes his hit of white and goes through a bloody frightening transformation to rise backup. I'm excited to see him get back into the fight. "The Madness continues to spread on #TheStrain Ep. 5 opens with creepy commentary by Setrakian as the plague has spread across the globe. We find Eph and Dutch using themselves as bait to trap a strogi, but we will get back to them later…. Our courageous Fet is at it on his own tracking strigoi like a kid in a candy store, he is in his element. One of my favorite parts of this series is how they unveil character backstories… Pack your bags we're going on a trip with Setraikin Amsterdam 1972 to a brothel in pursuit of Mr. Kruger. I can't believe I'm writing this, but poor Eldritch has become the living dead without the white, much to Eichorst pleasure. The icky moment of this episode when Eph seemed to have a grasp on what makes the strigoi tick. I was fascinated by the outcome of his dissection and the effect of the microwave frequency. Feraldo is faced with another setback, this is a woman who is looking for results NOW! Fet is off following his strogi red dots and finds himself in new territory facing a level of strigoi intelligence that appears to be plotting their own plans of attack. Present Day: Quinlan and Setraikin guise from the Lumen away to trap the crimson worm and stop the Master. Backstory: Setrakian finds his man and we are treated to a silver bomb taking Kruger down. This back story takes us to a horror lovers wet dream, a hidden room of bloody body parts that shows us a menacing side of Setraikin as he cuts up Kruger in divine Hannibal fashion *applause* How awesome was it to see Fet propel beneath Central Park putting in work to find the strigoi hive. NYC Command Center: Fet reveals his findings to Feraldo…. Up until the strgoi opened the cage, I truly thought Eph and Dutch figured it out. Back to the bottle, umm I mean scratch board. #TheStrain "First Born" Let us take a moment of silence for another fallen Master though the reign was brief it was played to pure menacing form. We get to bare witness that Zack came out of the womb in a disturbing form. Enough of that…. Let's get on to Fet and Setrakian discovering Mr. Q snatched the book, but wait our favorite exterminator low jacked the Lumen. Surprisingly Eph has qualms about giving up the Lumen for Zack, but with Quinlan in his ear we go into a much anticipated backstory of The Born: When they pulled up that curtain to reveal a caged Quinlan feeding *shutters* The bravery Ancharia showed removing Quintos mask was unshakeable in her belief in his quest. As she told the story of The 5th Invictus I felt the power that would become Quinlan. Revisiting Gus in dire straights, mama is draining him dry when Angel comes knocking at the door to help Gus get a grip on his situation. Ride Along with Eph & Mr.Q was an educational experience. Q is on a suicide mission to destroy his father. Quinlan and Ancharia's lair is discovered by a group of strigoi sent by the Master that Q quickly dispenses of only to be caught up soon after putting them in a life or death trap. When his "mother" offers herself to Quintos for nourishment that was heart and faith for him to rise to his destiny. The Master comes for Q, but his path has been designed. Angels attempt to help Gus goes horrifically wrong. Eph and Q seek out a strigoi to communicate with the Master, genius plan right… Hold your breath all HELL is about to break loose, Eph fiends off Kelly and a group of strigoi with the silver on the Lumen unfortunately he is out bestest in the fight and looses the Lumen. Enter Quinlan in Warrior form to fight the Master. Setrakian & Fet join the melee coming upon a group of Seals that have been turned to take out Mr. Q as he is riddled with a hail of bullets but leave it to Fet & Setraikin to shut it down with explosives of silver that ignite the Master and BAM Q seizes the moment to decapitate the Master, WTF just happened, till next week straniacs. ----------------- #VampsBoomRecap #strainaddict #strainiacs #guillermodeltoro #chuckhogan #TheStrain

Strainiacs I’m back… We open The Strain “New York Strong” 23 days into the vampapocalypse with grimm commentary of the condition of NY from Setrakian. Location Chinatown: Navy Seals are on point to take out the “stingers” in pursuit of The Rat King with Fet Translating Intell. What I especially enjoyed about this scene was the look of strigoi being killed. Awesome sequence, like watching a video game.

Truth be told my heart lurched in hope as we come upon a drunk Eph dreaming of Zack turned was reality. But you knew it was too good to be true. Eph continues his work to create more Bio-Weapons to wipe out the strigoi, though it appears they are evolving to survive.

Happy to see feisty Feraldo holding down NY with the aide of Fet and Eph playing key roles Eph makes an errand run siphoning gas and runs into a group of strigoi. Even in a state of inebriation he handles himself taking them out… but what of the worm infested knife he threw in the back seat *cringe* Meanwhile a meeting of the minds between Quinlan & Setrakian to devour the Lumen’s knowledge breaks off into a tat a tat between Quinlan and Fet casting shade about Mr. Q’s involvement. For as much as Fet can back up his swagger he best not step to Q to hard. The “anti-strigoi” comment cracked me up. What was going down with Gus and his moms was bloody horrific, it was heartbreaking to see the depths of desperation he has gone to keep her undead. Cut the cord bro 😔 Mr. Q meets The Ancients and schools them on whose in charge. He has no allegiance only to catch The Master by any means possible. Battle ground Manhattan: the Seals faceoff against a strigoi nest underground. Bam as soon as we see Eichorst make an appearance you know the Seals aren’t long for this life as they walked into the church of the damned. Realizing The Master is hunting them, in true Fet form he goes in armed to the save the Seals. Why is Zack not turned but laying up playing like mom didn’t kill Nora and isn’t infected. Eph receives a visit from Kelly w/a message from The Master: Zack for the Lumen.. Till next week
