Lyrics: I'm stuck in here and I can't get out, Living in repetition as I move with the crowd. The days are endless, but we live for the nights, Our youth is lost behind these unwatched eyes. And I feel older, older than I ever have, And I have the world upon my shoulders. Look at me, now I'm part of the team, Now I'm part of something at seventeen. Now I belong to everyone, But where have they gone? When things get hard, you just want to back down, Don't point that finger unless you point it at yourself. Your hero's dead, they peeked too soon, Like all the prep kids in highschool. We're the kings and queens of this time, it's our time, And I won't be trapped or labelled anymore. Dream a dream, do not tell, Do not rely on anyone else. Dream a dream, do not sell, Do not believe all this shit is fucking real.
Soundtracked 21: No Savior
Soundtracked 22 was going to be a big show. We decided to give an apocalyptic theme to our fall promotions, building up to that date. Erin had created a zombie-themed movie poster for Soundtracked 20 featuring the members of Broken Arts. We titled Soundtracked 21 No Savior as we continued the loose story but mostly the night was spent painting Christmas ornaments in a decidedly un-apocalyptic mood.
Soundtracked 21: No Savior November 12, 2011 @ The Garden Grove live: Elephant Shoes Stranded Cruiser Terror Lake with: Christmas ornament painting Broken Arts lineup: Harley, Lori-Anne, Defne, Erin, Ashley
Terror Lake were a garage rock trio from Toronto and friends of Persian Rugs' whom we had heard good things about, Stranded Cruiser were a local pop punk band that had been asking to play a Broken Arts show for a while, and we invited Elephant Shoes (with new drummer) back to play an electric set. We brought back the video projector we had debuted at Volume 18 and projected Christmas videos over the bands.
It would wind up being our final show at The Garden Grove. Unlisted expenses in their rental contract and a location next to a car garage were making it difficult to keep afloat. They tried to find a new location downtown but rental costs there were even more unreasonable and ultimately they closed their doors altogether. We were heartbroken to lose them but thankful that we had Mad Café as our new home. There was worry from some people that being back to just one venue and that venue being a café would limit us in terms of what we could do. Would we have to rely on just quieter pop and folk acts? Would there be no more room for drums, garage rock, or loud noise? Our next show would answer those questions definitively.

2012 Artists Of The Year: #6 - Stranded Cruiser
At #6 on your top local artists of 2012 are the Whitby pop punk band Stranded Cruiser. Stefan Dos Santos (guitar), Tim Regan (guitar), Alex Michaelides (bass), and Rob Edmonds (drums) started 2012 off with a New Year's Day show at The Bombshell. From there came their first Toronto gig, a track on a compilation by Hear This! Promotions, busking at the lake on Canada Day, a performance at Broken Arts Fest on the Living Culture stage, a music video for their cover of the Curtain Jumper song "No Life", and more shows in Durham and Lindsay.
Stranded Cruiser Live at the Bombshell in Oshawa. Saw these kids last night, they had some awesome energy! I uploaded a TON of videos last night, I'll be posting them throughout the day, they are all in the playlists at http://www.youtube.com/theDGBtube
Soundtracked 21 announcement
Soundtracked 21: No Savior is our next concert event on the evening of Saturday, November 12 at The Garden Grove (11 Taunton Rd. W.) with doors at 8 p.m. Let Broken Arts guide you as we march toward the end of the world next year. For $6 forget the apocalypse for one night and listen to music from Terror Lake, Stranded Cruiser, and Elephant Shoes. We'll also be running a station where you can make Christmas tree ornaments. (Broken Arts is participating in the annual Memorial Park tree-lighting ceremony on Nov.17) It's our last Christmas so we better make it special. We are, of course, always all-ages.
