Chiming in with high schools from Toronto, my HS had two semesters with 4 classes each, 8 a year total. Upper years you could also take a "spare" or free period. Every other week the last two classes changed in order (so 1234 to 1243) so you might have a different lunch period (we had 3). There were 5 minutes between and you could go to your locker, although most of us used it at lunch and before/after for our coats! Upper grades got bigger lockers but we often shared.

I don’t know why the app didn’t show me this, but it’s tumblr I shouldn’t be surprised.

Our school year is divided in two periods of 4 months each, 4/5 classes a day, but there were more classes in general during the week, the basic ones and then the ones based on the high school’s orientation, the only free period a student could take is during “religion”, if not we don’t get any spare or free period, and the lunch break is always around 11.20, some schools might have a little cafeteria but nothing like the schools over there, it’s mostly vending machines lol.
