Stranger Things fans, how are we feeling about the 3 new episodes yesterday?
I still could not care less about 008/Kali. I fast-forwarded all of her scenes. She was very much NOT needed in season five at all. The only part I liked involving her was when she firmly told Jim [Hopper] that her name is Jane, not "El".
It's literally the final season and here we are on the seventh episode, and everyone still calls her "El". Seriously?
Max's long speech to Holly about why she can't go back to her [Max] memory with her was the best thing to come out of those three episodes. I cried!
Jonathan asked Nancy to not marry him. ...What?
All the drama and suspense to both Jonathan and Nancy possibly dying in that room only for it to be dismissed by the goo-looking substance to stop melting and hardening.
Seven episodes and not a single major character died? Guys....
Sadie and Jamie carried all seven episodes. Caleb gets an honorable mention too, though, and so does Nell (the actress that plays Holly).
The part in episode 7 where all the kids ganged up on Holly was crazy (and sad)! That was horrible!
There was little to no suspension, in my opinion
I'm still not on board with the writers intertwining the Broadway play into the final season. I have too many thoughts on this alone as well as 001/Peter/Henry/Vecna and now Mr. Whatsit, but I'll save them for another post.
Lol.. Max giving Mr. Whatsit the middle finger was iconic and I would not expect anything less of her. (She and Holly were trying to escape while inside his mind)
Having Holly be taken away right in front of her sister was a terrible idea. What SHOULD HAVE happened was Jonathan catches her and she goes back with the gang to (I think it was) her house.
Obviously, I cheered when Max opened her eyes. 🥹
I could not care less about Jane/Eleven for a lot of reasons, but, despite her and Max not being as close of friends like Will and the other four guys, I still think her reaction to seeing Max was poorly written. She wasn't even scripted to be excited. It was literally like 'Oh... you're alive? Cool.'
Overall, these three episodes felt mid to me. After the seventh episode ended, I sat there, wondering, 'What the hell did I just watch?'
