btw I’m still in the middle of this ST doc and not only are the duffers just absolutely embarrassing themselves, but the Joyce/Winona/Byers fam erasure is so annoying!
are they truly just toying with the audience about a suicidal kid? what is wrong with them? this is something that, if you decide to do it, you should confront with seriousness and respect. this was their big plot twist all along. this traumatized kid says she's gonna kill herself and she does and we keep it ambiguous until the end to toy with the audience about suicide!!! haha so funny!!! we're geniuses!!! the whole time they have this big smiles and there's giggles all around the writers' room and it's making me SICK
the fact that the doc also focused on set pieces, prod design, scale, instead of anything really on directing the actors was ridic but expected (like instead of seeing the work on the jancy scene, we get the duffers and Shawn’s disappointment with the quality of the goop). also Gaten’s comment that they sometimes show them animations of their expressions/acting and he was like “I’d rather figure that out myself” was very telling.
But seeing the actors’ wrap days was very moving and sweet.
my favorite genre of documentary has dropped: behind the scenes docs that make you wonder "Why the Fuck would they Release This?"
