Oh ryrers they will never understand your friendship
richie tozier spends the entirety of the it franchise making straight sex jokes while canonically being in love with his male best friend but somehow mike wheeler, who spends the entirety of the st franchise staring at his male best friend's lips and talking to him softly, is the one everyone in the GA swears is 300% straight? y'all have no idea how (closeted or not) sexuality works and it shows. it's not about people holding a sign that spells it 24/7, you absolute fools.
maybe i'm the only one who fw this but i'd love a version of stranger things where the core four is will, el, max and robin. joyce, jonathan and bob for willel's family. mike, dustin, lucas and nancy can be love interest side characters. and kali can join at some point too.
You know what?
This subfandom defending Finn Wolfhard when many people are criticizing his lack of professionalism and his disrespect toward marginalized people feels exactly like when they rushed to defend the Duffer brothers after Will stans pointed out their cheap, poor writing.
Some people called out red flags such as racism and classism being mishandled, as well as signs of misogyny and homophobia in the writing that have existed since S3, and they criticized Mike’s character for the same reasons.
And guess who turned out to be right about the duffers and their writing?
I don’t really care about the actors, and harassing them is stupid. But FW was the host, and hosts do get to review and approve skits. He even taught Nell Fisher how to say no, based on his own experience.
It may be “normal” for SNL, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay. Normalized mainstream comedy has a long history of problems, especially in the U.S.
Heath Ledger refused to present at the 2007 Oscars because of a planned Brokeback Mountain joke.
They were making homophobic and misogynistic jokes, but the gay actor and the two actresses were not there. Divine intervention, I guess?
This subfandom let those rude and bland jokes slide because of what? FW wore lipstick? Because it benefits your fantasy about Mike being fem gay?
I shouldn’t have expected more from you guys.
Should've just let him write the whole damn show let's be honest
The 3 best episodes in the show were written by a byler legend godspeed sir
this is a women of stranger things fan account first and byers siblings fan account second that's all have a good day
I fr don’t play about them btw
The powerful duo that would unlobotomize Mike
Why do the "let dudes be friends" ppl only ever say that about the gayest motherfuckers who have ever walked the earth??? So many good examples and good representation of dudes being pals, but you have to say this shit about the two men who stare at each other's lips for a living and clearly dream about each other at night???
Hey so the Max coma joke in SNL makes me fucking sick who tf wrote that.
this
made me feel so gross
THE WHAT
mike asked them about their sex lives and lucas made a joke about how max just lays there like shes still in a coma
fucking nasty hed never say that
EXCUSE ME
what is wrong with people, that’s just disgusting
HEAVY on the "he'd never say that" because what.
Wanting to see gay characters in relationships on mainstream tv feels like being told you’re greedy for wanting a tiny slice of pizza at the class pizza party where everyone else gets one
i saw at least three posts on other apps saying
« they all got their happy ending except mike 😭 »
you guys really don't gaf about jane i hate it here
the girl is DEAD why is this about mike
Every day I think of the apocalyptic Hawkins we could’ve had. Like mmm yes give me the party exploring their abandoned past, the decrepit halls of their old middle school, the overtaken railroad tracks and car junkyard, the haunted creel house, the quarry and lover’s lake…the abandoned city as a metaphor for abandoned childhood instead of El…impeccable horror vibes from the run-down buildings and fend-for-yourself from Vecna and the military…Vecna memories being for the party and forcing them to reckon with their pasts individually and with their counterparts…do you guys pick up what I’m putting down like ugh the vibes of what I hoped it was were so peak
It enrages me to no end that onscreen Hopper bonds more with Mike than with Jonathan and Will - his future stepsons! You’re gonna pair him with Joyce but not let him bond with her sons like Bob did? Where’s Jonathan’s mixed feelings about his mom risking her life to haul this man out of Russia? Where’s Will’s hesitance to trust any sort of father figure again and Hopper working to earn that trust? Where’s Hopper helping the boys improve their skills with a gun but in a patient and kind way unlike Lonnie? Where’s their stepFAMILY dynamic?
no actually fr like- Will and Jon are the ones who have a truly complicated relationship with their father. In fanon, obviously, we all love the idea of Mike having a complicated relationship with Ted n stuff, but truly, there needed to be WAY more discussion on screen about Jon and Will's canonical abuse they suffered. Jon had to be Will's surrogate father for like- years and when they finally get one, he's barely shown being an actual father to the both of them when they deserve it so much. The only thing we really see of them being a family is the epilogue, and JANE ISNT EVEN THERE its so annoying - also Hopper is just kind of a dick in that scene anyways and there's no proper heart to heart with any of them. Instead, Hopper has this heart to heart with MIKE instead?? Oh it enrages me that Mike is the only one presented to be seriously grieving Jane in the epilogue still to this day. But we stay silly ig.
Give me Hopper having a heart to heart with Will about losing his sister actually right now.
i kinda need people to understand the difference between being a shallow dumbass who just calls complex characters going through grief/mental illnesses/abuse "annoying" and people who complain because the plotlines involving such themes get completely disregarded when they don't serve a purpose anymore and never end up getting closed in a satisfying way
save me that one gif of charlie heaton in the doc save me
What is it with the gays being so intense at the club
